Deeply honoured by the nomination but I'm a 'one-eyed Cantabrian wanting to steal the Phoenix away from Wellington' so I doubt I'd get enough votes. Add to that I'm unable to go to many Phoenix games due to the challenge that is geography.

I'm in Melbourne, so that is why I couldn't do it. I'd put Kiwi Pie in the bloggers' list, but he is basically a Victorian now (he'll get that no doubt). I've raised a separate matter with 4-4-2, hence why I've declined Stevo's offer. Appreciate it though, whether it was real or comical.

Legally an Oz team, but ask most Australians and we'd say the Nix are Kiwi. And how Australians see a Kiwi team in their compeitition could provide good material - us gaining respect, some wanting to boot us etc.
I don't think there's any barriers for a writer so long as you're well informed - and that involves being able to watch the matches, be it on TV or otherwise. So long as you support the Nix and have something to say, you should be fine. And if you have a different context - ie living in Chch or in Queensland or wherever - just provides a unique perspective that those in Wellington might not otherwise see.

I reckon it should be someone whos in the zone week in and week out. Piney does the commentary of the games and hi blogs are always great so maybe a more gritty blog from the view of the fever or an average wellingtonian who hasn't had any real connections with the media.
