I think a balanced reaction to this is needed.
Philosophically I totally agree the "Hell no way!" camp.
However, anecdotally at least, it seems to have at least potentially had a positive impact:
(a) on the TV coverage; and
(b) in other aisles
If either, or both, of those is actually bourne out, then maybe I would stop and recosnider my philosophical reaction.
If it makes it easier and gets more people singing in the non fever zone aisles, maybe it is worth it?
If it brings more of the atmosphere through on TV, maybe it is worth it?
(I am assuming a better transposition of the atmosphere into the TV coverage might increase the potential that 'sit-on-the-fence fans' might actually turn up to subsequent matches - but I can also see you could mount an argument it might have the reverse effect by making the TV coverage better to watch, and hence make them LESS likely to show up).
I think if the net result is more people singing and chanting, and the atmosphere at games being upped, then it is worth considering.
At the very least I tip my hat to the club and/or stadium for giving it a go.
Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.
Phoenix fans. We have to win them over one fan at a time.
