Was a dive, ref sucked in, linesman muffed it by not flagging the original offence.

If he was really being pulled down. He would have fallen over before the box. He was tugging the whole way but only happened to fall over whilst in the box. Simulation.

this photo, from Baiters link on the OMG Stadium thread  to Photosports shots of the game, shows it perfectly.

I don't get it? I'm sure McKain's leg comes across and takes out Brosque. Of course, it should have been a free kick the other way for all the tugging on McKain's shirt before that. But Brosque goes down when he gets the clip from McKain, not when his shirt is being pulled...

IMO McKain was trying to pull of the challenge as it was heading into the penalty area fully aware that Brosque had gotten in front of him and he didnt want to bring him down. Just that he couldnt get free as Brosque had a handful of his shirt and any contact made was a direct result of that.

^^ This. McKain was trying to pull out on the edge of the box, Brosque still has a handful of his shirt pulling McKain in.

The ankle clip is incidental. The replay shows minimal contact, but Brosque decided on the big "I've been shot" Olympic swan dive, instead of playing football.

Agree Bullion, the super slo-mo above pretty much shows that happening.

Yeah. I agree. It should have been a foul on McKain. I'm not saying that. And I'm not saying whether McKain's clip was accidental or not. I don't think it was a pen, lets just clear that up! And Brosque is a diving, cheating prat. But I still think that, when running at pace, a clip like that is enough to knock you off your feet. Meh.

Rugby players manage to keep their feet after more solid ankle taps than what Brosque got.

It's just that Brosque's initial reaction to being tapped was to swan dive forward, rather than trying to remain upright, and subsequently going over.

But I guess it's something people will never agree on :)Ard Righ2009-12-16 16:53:01

Game, set and match. The referee should be shown this for future reference when he has a game with Brosque playing. He might see brosque for what he really is. Cheating bastard.

This was never a pen, Mckain was clearly fouled first, and I called that in real time from the TV.

Some idiot on here had the gall to criticise me for saying that in the match thread.

NO WAY was it a pen
