Washing the signed shirt

My newly signed Nix top *stinks* after having worn it all day Sunday and most of Monday (including having slept in it) but it dawned on me today that maybe certain methods of washing it are better than others to reduce fading of the signatures. I was going to ask in the Dunedin thread but then I also realised there were lots of people getting tops signed so I justified a whole topic on the issue. Any tips?

Turn it inside out and hand wash with soap then rinse and hang out to dry

Doing C-Diddy's method worked OK but it did cause a wee bit of smudging. In hindsight getting your favourite football shirt signed isn't very smart, unless you're willing to not wear it any more. Guess I'll just have to wash it as normal and if the signatures fade then just get a flag next time :)

I don't have any of my shirts signed and would only do it if I intended framing it. I asked for my white charity shirt not to be signed.

i have a few signed shirts, either put them straight into a frame or into the wardrobe until i can afford to frame them,

i do see a few people at games with stripey's that are signed i guess they do not wash them very often or do not mind if the signatures fade or wash out a little.

In hindsight I also should have got the front of the shirt signed, I did think about framing it but it would be backwards. Beer doesn't do much for foresight as it happens.

Signatures on my shirts have been ok but the shirts get hand washed.

I hand washed mine as well, still smudged. It's not that bad to be fair but you can certainly tell when you get up close.

Can you just go over the signatures yourself, or am I preaching blasphemy?!

I'm having this issue with My signed Dave Gredge from The Wedding Present. Not worn it since the gig. I'm just going to frame it and get another off the website.

And for those who say 40+ year old blokes shouldn't wear music t-shirts David Gedge is older than I am.

That would make them brighter again but you'd still be able to see the smudging around the signatures. Plus I'd hate to sneeze or something half way through it.

I nearly always wear a concert t-shirt on casual Friday at work and I'm 44 :)

Should I get my AWs shirt signed on front or back? Unsure.

Depends if you want to frame it or wear it. If you want to frame it get the signatures on the front or you'll end up with my situation where I'm buggered either way.

Buy a second shirt and a double sized frame and have them both in the frame, new one and the old signed on. Problem solved.....Next!

Would anyone be interested in swapping an unsigned adidas home shirt for my signed one? Size 14 boys (must be close to men's small) never worn with tag still on. Or alternatively, would anyone want to buy it? I want a clean one to wear and I'm not that keen on signed stuff anyway.

Fuck this stupid game
