How bad was the camera work for that game!!!!!! For a lot of the game the actual ball wasn't even in the shot! Surely, step one of filiming a sport is.... get the ball in the picture. Unbelievable. If that was an apprentice cameraman, (s)he needs to fail that unit of the course, and try again in some other sport please. Try lawn bowls, that should be easier!

in the first 80 minutes the camera person could hardly claim that we were moving the ball around too quickly

From where I was sitting, all the cameramen had their cameras locked off on their tripods and were looking at other things.

They ones on the field were anyway.

Maybe that's how they roll.

Mike, they are Tvnz's cameras. Tvnz is in charge of the big screens, and those cameras are only used to shoot crowds before and at half time. (My Step Mum works for Tvnz, and Sister is a part-time cabler who cables for some of the games)

The camera persons weren't that bad. watching bits of the replay, they kept up with it. I wish they'd have a camera up above the fever zone looking back at the goal at the Time Brown end.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

Agreed, or down on the corner. Something to catch the goal celebrations. Nearly every goal we score, the camera on the opposite side follows the wrong player celebrating.

Just saying that it looked like a sweet job. Lock it off, watch the game, get paid.

Nice.

Well it might have looked ok to you lucky fullas who saw the game live (yes you LG, I saw you), but to us on the edge of our seats at home 500 km away, knowing that the ball was with someone out to the left of the picture and not know what they were gonna do with it till it came back into shot was nerve wracking and it happened repeatedly in the first half. The second half was a bit better.

Anyway, its a minor point that I don't want to labour. It just added to the frustration at the time.

It is, sister gets $20 an hour starting from about 3 hours before the game till the end. Even when they are filming, its a soft job.
