In terms of the future of the Phoenix and its supporters, how important is a win. If there is a loss or even a draw the media could think this is the last straw for professional football in New Zealand (even this early on).

A win would be great here.

More people could possible turn out to see us play the jets and if we do have a bigger crowd there and come out with an entertaining draw or even better a win, then we can see crwods to bi in the high 10k's for a while.

but...relax.

I don't care what the result is, I will support the Phoenix.

Having said that, we WILL win.  Make no bones about it, we WILL win.

All I do is make the stuff I would've liked
Reference things I wanna watch, reference girls I wanna bite
Now I'm firefly like a burning kite
And yousa fake fuck like a fleshlight

no win in the first 4 or 5 games would put lots of pressure on us but i think we'll win at home v newcastle next game.

I don't think the win is as important as playing entertaining 'end to end' football - and the ability to score goals (as per the Victory game)

Winning would obviously help, but the first two rounds have been awfully close - Central Coast is the only team to have won so far. A draw wouldn't be a bad result, and even a loss wouldn't be disastrous, other than the bad press it would generate from NZ media.

Having said all that, I second what Frankie Mac said. We will win.

Yeah fair enough.

We will win but in what fashion???

Would you rather take a 2-0 clear and out win or another late grasper???

Two games gone and has already been pointed out only one team has actually had a win ,i would prefer a win obviously but a draw would hardly be the end of the world !
Dont panic Mr Mannering!!

Lets get 3 points on the board early on and set ourselves up for a good season. As mentioned by others  earlier, a result here will get a bigger regular support base and that can only be good.

Its no longer a problem.

Saw the Newcastle game last week and a little bit of last nights game. If we lose to the Jets I will be majorly pissed. They're crap.

We need a win, a clean sheet would be great too,  Ricky needs to get that defence sorted out quickly. I back our guys up front to do the job as long as we dont concede in the first half.

Go the Nix!!

I think this game on sunday might be the first one we should win.

I have a funny feeling that the Jets are going to be on the wrong end of an arse whipping.

No doubt the pressure is on the boys for this Sunday. Every game is being played under a cup final atmosphere.I agree that if we can avoid conceding early goals then the Phoenix may really kick butt!!!

Just a question? . Are we better to be more conservative in away games?
I for one would be happy with 0-0 away draws against the likes of the Mariners/Sydney/Melbourne sides. This is a League.....its all about accumulating points. Perhaps we should drop a striker for another holding midfielder away. Get a clean sheet and possibly nick a goal from a set piece.
At home with our crowd support we can attack and score. I'll bet at the end of the season the top four sides will all have picked up lots of away draws.

Even, though the novelty factor is over, people know the Phoenix is the real deal. They don't roll over and play dead at half time. There will also be some at the game who didn't watch the last game on the telly. If the Phoenix keep their shape and take this game, as they should, the ranks of the faithful will continue to grow.

I think if they can control the first 20 minutes, they will knock the Jets'  socks off.
