Yeah, the different states have different rules around how many, but basically all games are essentially empty. This game was in Baden-Württemberg so capped at 500, though Berlin for example is up to 3,000 and NRW is 750. Bayern (state that Regensburg is in) has probably been the strictest, like the window they allowed unrestricted crowds was only a couple weeks, and now they are back to 0 allowed. Shame because probably negligible difference 0 and 750, but atmosphere-wise it can help a lot.
Sarpreet will miss next week’s empty-stands game anyway because he picked up his 5th booking so has an automatic suspension. Wonder if Danny might tell him to get a tactical suspension for the game just before the March qualifiers so he can come on down early.

Grown a bit of a fierce beard there.
I guess he’s got a lot of space and the challenge is to produce consistently against the best opponents, but man yeh- the work for that second goal.
First touch and feint takes the retreating defender completely out of play and let’s him see the whole field in front of him and the pass is pinpoint. It had the hallmarks of a top player.
Edit: Also has a cross with his weak foot which is very handy too and he had a right foot goal the other week. Phwoah.

Well if he misses the next Bundesliga 2 game this weekend, means he won't play for JR again until 5th Feb. That's after just coming off the winter break (started 20th December).
He'll be nice and fresh for 2 AWs friendlies from next weekend (27th & 31st Jan). Hopefully him and the Woodsman can start at least one game together against either Jordan or Uzbekistan, working on their combinations. Though it wouldn't surprise to Newcastle 'ask' Wood to skip this Jan window. However after this weekend, Magpies ain't scheduled to play again until 9th Feb - so you'd hope they'd release Wood for at least the Jordan game (Jan 27th).
Actually from memory in Flying Kiwis was mentioned Saudi Arabia owned Newcastle are having a training camp in Saudi, over the Jan window. So pretty damn close to the AWs in the UAE.

Dare say it's also in the best interest of the club if Woodsy can find a bit of goal scoring form wherever it may come from

Misses through suspension a 1-2 home loss to Holstein Kiel (11th).
JR drop down to 8th, though still only 4 points off Werder Bremen in 3rd (promotion playoff spot).
CB Scott Kennedy who is part of the Canadian CONCACAF squad with JR's goal.
Interesting that Leon Guwara who played against the AWs for The Gambia recently, played this Bundesliga 2 game, ie not at the ACON with The Gambia.

After a start that they could’ve only dreamt of, things are starting to get a bit bumpy for Regensburg. Today's loss makes it six losses in the last eight league games. Prior to this poor run they had only lost one of 12 league games, and their next two games are against St Pauli (2nd) and Schalke (4th), so it doesn’t get any easier. Not a poor season though, as expectations will have been simply survive relegation.
Looking at Kicker.de, Sarpreet was actually rated as the best player of the matchday last week, based on their rating system where 1 is the best rating and 6 is the worst, as he was given a 1.5. Either way, looking at their forums they don’t reckon he’ll extend his stay there.
Leon Guwara actually scored the second goal in their win last week, finishing the move that Sarpreet started so well by creating space and switching it, so they were probably more than happy he didn’t get picked. He only debuted for Gambia in June last year, having played for Germany at U16-U20 level, and being born-and-raised German. A further five of the Gambian team were born-and-raised in Europe, a fairly common incidence at AFCON, as I read that 116 players at the tournament were born in France alone, including 22 of the 26 man Comoros squad.

83 mins as Jahn Regensburg (8th), lose 2-1 at Schalke 04 (4th).
Same score when Singh came off. JR 6 points off the promotion spots, so still in the mix, though their form has fallen away.
Schalke 04 with only 2 Germans in their starting 11.

Starting as Jahn Regensburg (10th) travel to his old club Nürnberg (7th). Looks like JR have changed formation, and he will be playing more centrally.

Likely a frosty reception for Singh. Remember he got a bit of abuse from away Nürnberg fans, when the 2 teams met earlier in the season.

At home to Fortuna Düsseldorf, Singh with another start.
Really need to arrest their poor run of form which has seen them fall right out of contention for promotion. A win just about keeps them in touch, and would move them up to 8th with 34 points. Darmstadt (44), St Pauli (44) and Weirder Bremen (42 + 1 game in hand) lead the way in the promotion race from 2.Bundesliga.
Kickoff in 45 minutes.

For Jahn Regensburg promotion hopes look dead and buried (15 pts off promotion spots). Their form really has been awful. Relegation now more a prospect being only 6 points above Dynamo Dresden (16th) in the relegation playoff spot.

Really hope now the promotion hopes have been all but dashed that he gets a chance to heal properly. Groin strains can take a long time to heal and can even become chronic if not looked after well (I know something about that!)

Not in match day squad as Jahn Regensburg (10th) host Ingolstadt (18th & last).
Jahn Regensburg are 9 pts above the Relegation Playoff spot with 5 games left after today's game. Win today they are most likely safe. They are also 14 points off the Promotion Playoff spot, so a solid mid table finish now looks to be their season.
Hopefully for Singh it's just a case now of him playing only now when he is actually fit. Even his club (Bayern/JR) must acknowledge it's in his best interests to be fit for his country in mid June. He gets to Qatar who knows who maybe watching.
Edit - a 1-1 draw & JR stay 10th.

I wonder what next season will hold for him. He has no real avenue into the Bayern squad, he’d behind Müller and Musiala who are both Germany internationals, and Bayern II missed out on promotion back to the 3. Liga, not that it would make any sense for any party to have him playing for them.
His contract ends next season, so you’d think Bayern would rather sell him than loan and let him go free, they can always come include a buy-back if they really think he could be the required level. He’s done pretty well this season, albeit in a smaller team where he’s more the guy, a luxury he might not get at a bigger team. His German is coming along, so good chance he’d want to stay in Germany, be awesome to see him at a club like Hoffenheim. Their coach was head coach of the Bayern II team that won the league with Singh and has already signed one guy from that team.
(European) Summer will probably look similar to Thomas’, likely looking for a new club, with a sliver of a chance of staying at their current club, albeit doing this off the back of long injuries. Michael Burgess’ weekly Herald column didn’t exactly rate Singh’s chances of Costa Rica too highly either, but still a chance unlike Thomas.

I imagine only Singh, NZF's physio/medical staff and Hay will know Sarpreet's real chances of playing.
But game is only 5 weeks away, so no further update, doesn't seem promising.

Sounds like he was playing for JR with this injury when he likey shouldn't have been. Maybe with a pain killer job/heavy strapping.
He's so important to the AWs chances. Even on one leg he could create that one opening the AWs need in the Playoff. With some management of his groin, could he end up sitting on the bench as Wood did in 2017, waiting to see how the game unfolds? Can see it happening
And note reading JR's coach's quote, their season does finish this weekend. AWs v Ticos is not until June 14th, a month later. So who knows that 'slight' daily progress maybe enough

The issue with groin problems is they can take a long time to heal, and even more so when they're not properly managed as seems to be the case.
Agree that it's better to have a half fit Singh in Doha than no Singh at all. But he's also got his long term future to think about. Fail to overcome this injury and next season looks bleak already.
