The weather countdown begins courtesy of the Metservice 10 day forecast.

Today's 10-day doesn't cover the day of destiny yet, but from past experience weather TRENDS are far more important than the particular forecast for a given day.

This is the end of the 10-day forecast, and shows a patch of YELLOW FEVER leading up to the fateful day.

Back tomorrow with an update, and daily from there on in :)ahmad2010-02-25 15:47:30

I'm disturbed. The weather was wet and windy against NQF and we won 3-0. Then it was brilliantly sunny against the gLOLry and it went to pennos. I don't think good weather is good for us.

Bring it up again in 9 days, and then it will have about 50% chance of being right.

I know, I know, its serious!

I remember a glorious night one November that didn't go to pennos

Too far out to look at the forecast.  Look again next Fri.

So what am I going to do for the next 8 days then???

If I recall correctly, the 10 day forecast was pretty accurate for the last game, and also when we went tramping this time last year.

But it's still a 10 day forecast.  3 day one is obviously going to be more accurate.

However on the plus side late summer/autumn weather patterns are usually more stable (I think) so there's grounds for optimism

It doesn't go away.  Just a period of remission from March through to July.

Still think it's too far out to gauge.

Too much negatively here. It's not like I'm saying THIS IS the weather for Sunday.

It isn't "negatively" Ahmad, it's merely "too far out to gauge".

A forecast is simply a prediction, and given the nature of forecasting it's obviously more accurate as the day gets closer.

But as already mentioned in the original post, the weather pattern and trend tends to be accurate (eg 3 days of fine weather in a row tends to suggest a patch of 2-4 days of fine weather), so it is interesting (for some) all the same to watch the daily trend as the long range forecast starts to include 7 March.

And I'm not sure why, if it's too far out to gauge, anyone would keep coming back to read updates in this thread this far out.

Erm, thanks for the lesson - I'm only trying to eliminate unnecessary angst and friction. It is what it is. We'll be there regardless, pax in hand.

This forum is hilarious in the off-season. This site has a lot of sh*t talking as it is during the season, imagine it with no football to talk about

Though i think this off-season will be a little different, itll be more of a white noise scene with the WC coming up.

Allegedly

The two biggest games in recent times were played in splendid weather with a marvellous result!

Spare a thought for those of us coming up from Dunedin who are not used to wind or rain! ahmad2010-02-26 23:08:23

If that's the case then pray for a good day. Like November 14 this is another chance to raise football's profile and "sell" it to new fans. Only this time it has extra meaning for the club - it's a chance to bring on board more regulars to the RoF. For the sake of the club let's hope it's a great game with a great result!
