That's a pretty reasonable Curaçao squad.

Big call to commit to a side 160 in the world and the country was "disbanded" a few years ago, whatever that means!

Curaçao used to be part of the Netherlands Antilles. That federation of all the Dutch Caribbean was disbanded in 2010 and now Curaçao is now a "country" in itself of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Which means it has its own FIFA membership now which used to belong to the Netherlands Antilles.

So if Anthony Hudson came knocking on your door and promised you an opportunity to play International football you'd turn it down?

Curacao are only 24 places below the All Whites on the FIFA Rankings so whats the difference? They're shark but not quite as shark as the team Roly has agreed to represent

That is assuming that all those who are eligible actually decide to play for them though.

I've been to Curacao...pretty special place if you ask me! I think he will definitely accept the offer to play for them. Especially because the toss up is between playing for Curacao or the very remote possibility of playing for the Netherlands which, let's face it, would entail him being a started in a very good team either back home or somewhere in Europe.

At least he will be able to play internationally for one team which is a pretty big carrot...

This would be a bit off putting though.

Seems really stupid, he went to Curacao twice and on the way home went direct from Antigua to London and could have cut out Barbados and St Martin on the first part of his trip. Could have been London, Antigua, Curacao, Antigua, Montserrat, Antigua, London for the two games.

Our European AWs probably don't enjoy trips to Wgtn. Two long haul flights and then domestic to Wgtn.

Me too. Fabulous. Amsterdam in the Carib. Most of the men looked like and were dressed like Jimi Hendrix!

You got that right, he also said in an other interview that he would stay with Phoenix for a maximum of 2 seasons..

His future goal is to play in a strong European competition.

So is roly signed for next season or not?

Do you think it was Ernie singing "Roly flew 5000 miles" that convinced him to stay?

People like Coldplay and voted for the Nazis. You can't trust people.

This is massive news. I love this man.

I must admit I'm surprised at this, I got the feeling when he first arrived here that he intended using Phoenix as a stepping stone to go other places, and after a really good season I would have thought he'd have a few offers on the table.

Surprised, but stoked!

Just a further two years after that and he will be an All White.

haha funny, wonder if he has any striker friends languishing at the Ajax academy

Fantastic news. Mustn't mind it in Windy Welly then, eh?

Hold onto Burns, add a striker and some defensive cover and we can really achieve something next year.

"Also I think we are building something special at the club; something that hasn’t been done before at the Phoenix."

Love to hear this! On top of Burns (pretty much) confirming that he's staying, this just confirms the good vibes around the place. Real similar to Ifill/Greenie etc in 09. How long till next season?

I'm going to to risk blasphemy and say that while Paul Ifill gave us some excellent years of his career, his best were spent in England, playing in FA cup finals etc etc...

Roly's best years of his career could potentially be spent with us.

He may have negotiated from a position of strength and has a 350k transfer clause.

When he arrived he intimated that this was just a stepping stone, something about preferring to play in front of a full croud. But he said in an article in the netherlands that he is enjoying football so much more here. Enjoying the freedom, etc.

Any chance Roly is now in the marquee spot with Burns being the 'domestic' marquee?
