Who does the marketing for the Wellington Phoenix? And why are there still buses with Kosta Barbarouses around town? A tad embarassing.

I figured that those were last years ads that nz bus hasn't bothered to remove seeing as they lost the contact for wellington and no longer care.

Generally I think that the Phoenix social media person is doing great this year.

The Phoenix have no control on when their advertising gets taken off. They pay for a period of time, and get it. If nobody else is paying for the period after, NZ Bus don't bother taking the ad off.

It's the same reason why you can sometimes see billboards up for movies that came out 6 months ago.

To say they have no control is not quite correct. They are the client. They could stipulate when they want ads removed or changed. It is more correct to say the choose not to control that.

It is probably fair enough that they did not in this instance as Kosta was of course our shining marquee who was going to be here for a long time.

As I said nz bus are gone, they're just going through the motions until their contact expires.

NZ Bus are not gone Transit only tendered for the profitable routes like Karori, Seatoun and Island Bay..

NZ Bus will run most others under subsidy so still making money.

Tranzit has sixty percent of routes, go wellington have 28% but most of those are individually contacted not tendered and negotiations are on going. Tranzit was only allowed to take 60% of the network so if another player  comes for those remaining routes then it seems likely that Go Wellington will lose those as well.

There are still All Whites' advertising on the Terrace.

How much does it cost to change out a billboard? Cost is probably the reason why the Phoenix advertise up to four games on a billboard right?

is it worth re-signing Kosta?

Buses also still have "go catch X-air". That was about 10 years ago.

If they’re giving you free billboard time, you’d be silly to make them take it down.

Allegedly

realistically the average Joe doesn't even know who Kosta is or whether or not he still plays for us, all they see is an ad for the Nix. Gotta be more good in that than bad

speaking of the average joe not knowing whom someone is, who is the marketing manager for the Nix?

Do we have one? If so they are not doing a good job of marketing their role.

Think Nix have done well here. Should get good crowd number for Duras record equaling game.

Jan 27th Dura members' loyalty reward

Saturday 27 January marks a very special landmark – as we take on Adelaide United we’ll be lead out by captain Andrew Durante for his 278th Hyundai A-League appearance – the equal most appearances by anyone in the history of the competition.

Dura has been a stalwart of this football club, a leader and a legend for the Phoenix, but more than anything over ten seasons with the club he’s shown unswerving loyalty to the yellow and black.

And so have you!

To thank all our members this season we’d like to extend a very special offer for our next home game – if you have a membership with the Phoenix you can bring up to two mates, on us!

In coming days you’ll receive an email from Ticketek with the details of how to redeem your unique password to access the two free tickets.

And if that’s not enough – if you and your friends are in the stadium Saturday night you’ll go in the draw to win $4000 dollars: more than enough to cover the ten years of adult gold memberships some of you have purchased to support Dura and Phoenix this past decade!

So let’s make it a night to remember for a very special leader, player and captain – and pay tribute to both Andrew’s loyalty, and yours.

Come on you Nix!

"Dome said fans have embraced the team when they've left Wellington, with 20,000 attending games in Christchurch and Auckland in the past."

Check your figures over the last 4 years and you will see that those number seriously declined. I don't know what you are smoking but it is not good stuff. Not good marketing. Our last game of the season is where we get the chance to say good bye to some players...and the Conga line.

Probably true D. I will be fascinated to know what the local Iwi whom the club sought here in Wellington think of this move.

Why would they care? What's the point in taking a swipe? I think the re-branding was fantastic.

Not a swipe? How do you work that out in both threads?? I am supporting the local Iwi whom came on board at the start of the season to build a closer bond with the club whom are now taking another game out of the area. The club have in effect slapped the Iwi across the face.

Yeah, I'm not bringing it up again. I just spent too much time in rural areas over summer and I'm used to anything being a swipe. Misread, disreguard.

I read that too and thought bullshark, it would be some time since 20k was achieved in Ch-Ch, I think the game at the old earthquake munted AMI Stadium where Siggy scored a late winner or equaliser might have been the last time, so that's 2009 or 2010. Unsure of AKL, but suspect it's sometime ago.

It''s much more a struggle these days. They may be various reasons for going to CHC or AKL, but they can't surely think its because 20k people will show up.

Need to be at your seat when its drawn tho, how many of the Fever Zone actually know their seat number?

I doubt 10,000 people even know the games on.
