Wellington Phoenix Should Sell Fan Shares

Financially struggling clubs such as Real Oviedo and SD Eibar sold shares to their fans across the world when they went through similar circumstance to what the Phoenix are going through now. Doing this would create revenue for the club, and a fan owned club in a top league would create massive popularity, I'm sure football fans across the world would pitch in and buy a share as they did with the likes of Real Oviedo. What do you think?

I do not know if there is enough capital in the Nix to sell shares - and if in fact they could be traded on NZSX?

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

If we struggle to get 4000 people to buy season passes,  I can't imagine there is much demand for shares in the club.

We're not struggling financially either - our owners have more than enough money to keep us afloat. The bullshark we're going through is more about broadening the the interest in the club across the general public - in terms of TV ratings mostly. If you sold shares it would be us same tragic fans who are watching anyway who bought them, and it wouldn't broaden that fanbase.

WelNix have said that allowing fans to buy equity is part of their long term plan though, although more just as a way of spreading the love I think.

People like Coldplay and voted for the Nazis. You can't trust people.

Yeah I would have thought a share issue would be for a one off injection of capital whereas we need sustained extra revenue to give the FFA rather than a one off injection of capital.

They aren't financially struggling.  They are Metricly struggling.

The FFA is financially struggling to get money out of Sky.

There is only one place Sky wants to spend their money, they even gave them their own channel which must have at least 200 subscribers and is a real winner for them.

We have discussed this before but if Sky made a dedicated channel to football and got themselves access to football all around the world, you would have so many live games be worth joining or rejoining. I sometimes don't think Sky realise just what sort of a product football around the world is.

Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

So -

(a) we have an ownership group, each of whom are worth plenty (millions each, I am pretty sure)

(b) the club has made a loss every year

And you think they should offer, and people would buy shares? Really?

I must say I am really surprised by that suggestion. I don't think the owners need capital, and I don't think most fans would be willing to be partially liable for the club's loses. That IS what happens when you own shares. If there is a profit you get a dividend. If there is a loss you get a call. And you have to pay your share of the loss.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Phoenix fans. We have to win them over one fan at a time.
