Anyone got pictures of the Westpac stadium, like
When was the stadium built? :)

It was built in the late 90s and opened early 2000 - first sporting event there was a domestic one-day cricket match involving Wellington on about January 2/3 and then an ODI between NZ and West Indies on about January 9/10 from memory.

I'm pretty sure the first event was actually an aussie rules exhibition game. Big call saying that's a "sporting event" though.
Stadium annual report just came out and has some pretty good photos but the links given above are probably just as usefull.

Liverpool Fan 1 - you have a very good knowledge of sport - can you tell me when Northern Districts last won the Shell Cup and did Royden Hayes and Richard De Greon ever bowl in Tandem

ND last won the SHELL CUP in season 1997/8.
haynes and De Greon never bowled in tandem at international level.

westpac stadium is cool
It annoys me that we are so far from the pitch, for sports like football and eggchasing it is pretty poor in comparison to purpose built stadiaYou know we belong together...

Was that they year Alex Tait took four in the over? It was a golden era of Domestic cricket that, Cantebury were absolute quality and ND had a good side. Some great january days at Blake Park

The sad reality of NZ
Not enough rectangular stadiums, but perhaps not enough demand for them. That being said, I certainly enjoy games at NHS or Waikato Stadium (when I ignore who the main tenant for the latter is of course!
)That being said, Westpac might be removed but it has pretty damned good sightlines. You might not be as close to the game, but at least you can actually see it well from most parts of the stadium.

Westpac Stadium got even better when they added the second screen. Now all they need to do is address the following two problems - The alleged substance that is allegedly called edible food and the rip-oof pricing for it and the prices of the drinks.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!
