Guess it depends on how many of them turn out for clubs on Saturday.

Did I read somewhere that the Wellington players in these camps got released for club duty but not those out of town ?

Seems a bit harsh.

How's my driving? - Whine here

Tough call.

Phoenix or Wairarapa United. Heads should roll at Capital Football for this.

Its only likely to be a friendly kick around like the one they had at Miramar before last season. I still have the picture I took of Steve Gully playing in a Phoenix shirt to make up the numbers.

A dog with a bone :)

Imraaaaaaaaaaaaay, Mike Garnett, Pete "Beach Muscles" Howe, Wayno "Drinking Muscles" Rooker, Louis "OK" Corrales, Karl Whalen, Dazza Cherriton and Ginger Brown are all playing.

Or so they say to Park Life spies.  Another game coming up next week too apparently.

Others to have lied to Park Life about their involvement include Dave "Eating Muscles" Cross and Timothy "One Game Comeback" Butterfield.

Better bounce this one, assuming it's still on ... I'm going, anyway!

Strange that it wasn't mentioned in today's newspaper article or on the Phoenix website though ...

It's just a training game.  Why would the club 'announce it'.  The club have played a number of 11v11 training matches leading up to now and this one isn't really much different.

I wouldn't expect much.

And I believe it is on Newtown 2 - Nix's standard training ground.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Fair enough; I hope that game next week is on the club site though, especially as proceeds go to China earthquake charity.

I heard on the grapevine today that next weekend's charity game has been moved to a Saturday to fit in with the Nix training schedule.  That's not from the club, just rumour, but if true it would mean the game would shift to Newtown 2.

Yes.

Fair enough though.  The Nix pre-season training schedule has to take first place over a charity match.

And the best rumour of the year is this: Andy Hedge to start at centre back for the Select XI!

just got back from game.
starting 11 in first half
      lia----durante----mckain----lochead
      gao---ferrante---johnson---christie
                 draper----coveny
something like that anyway
second half things changed, dodd in midfield. troy hearfield got a run at right back. leo and siggy got 20 at end. two new guys played in second half, young guy on left and som guy up front.
first half was good, draper i thought lacked something. ferrante and christie played some amazing balls. backline looked good.
quite a few people down there. interested in other peoples thoughts

4-2 to the nix a  nice training run thought vince lia played the angry man role pretty well the 1st half, still early days and it was taking the nix a bit of time to find their rhythm and read each other but they have only just come back into training,is ferrante the new captain he seemed to be the one giving the orders on the field.the selection xi we're good gave the nix a good game.bopmans report about sums it all up.

who were the two randoms up front?

The random on the wide right was Troy Hearfield.  The other random up front was Auckland 15 year old Tom Spragg.  Another kid came on a right back.  Didn't know him but Spragg is quality.  Good to see the Nix spreading the youth net wide.  Spragg is off to Nike Cup.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Quick thoughts on game - Mckain is class! Great signing... Gao another good acquisition! Jeremy Christie should have been playing for the Wellington Selection he was that bad! Well done to the wellington selection they battled away well!

Spragg was great, Durante was great. Awesome to see some football. Thought the selection goal keeper played a little like Paston

Read in Dompost this morning that Daniel McBreen (ex St Johnston) was playing in the game. He is on a one week trial.
