I agree - a loyal core will always attend, but will shrink if a team doesn't win. Casual punters will, let's face it, be the demograph that burgeons the crowd to higher levels than we've seen already, cos there just aren't 30,000 or even 20,000 diehard footers fans in wgtn (I'd love to be proved wrong here though).

So to attract them, you've gotta have the right result to match the spectacle. In the past the Warriors (not to mention Southampton over the last couple of seasons ) have proved that entertaining losers are still losers.

go the 'nix.

I agree to a point.. however this is a typical new zealand rugby based comment.. most of nzl rugby fans mock there team to death when they lose.. its shockin.. they're useless.. fans still needa stick by with plenty of faith even though we arnt getting results yet.. nothing but new zealand rugby arrogance stopping us..

I'm deeply hurt. Deeply, deeply hurt. And I need you to understand that, Master. Seriously though, I'm not bagging them, just pointing out that they haven't won yet, and more people come to watch a team that's winning. I'll be there regardless...

I'd agree with Flash. In any sport there will always be a hard core of supporters who will attend no matter what's happening on the park. Bloc 5 showed that! It's the 'floaters' who will show up when a team is going well and/or the weather's nice and/or there's nothing on the telly who will boost the crowds. Nowt to do with rugby or arrogance, sadly I think it's just a fact of life. If our average crowd this season was 25,000, if we got to a semi-final I can guarantee that this would jump up considerably for that game. More casual fans will show up if the team's going well, and then there are the  'part-timers' who willl show up for the big games e.g. play-off game, semi-final or final but wouldn't get off their arses to go to a bog-standard league game (that's league as in A-league, not League as in Warriors!). As a Warriors season ticket holder, I've seen it in the last few weeks when everybody and his uncle suddenly became the Warriors biggest fans simply because they were in the semis, but the majority of them will be mysteriously absent again at the start of next season.
I reckon our crowds will fluctuate a bit as the season goes on but I'd be surprised, and very disappointed, if they ever dip below 10,000. The trick, as this thread is asking, is how to get and keep the 'core' crowd as high as possible. Don't think anybody's bagging the team here, we're all singing from the same hymn sheet!   Go The 'Nix.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

"Being a Partick Thistle fan sets you apart. It means youre a free thinker. It also means your team has no money." Tim Luckhurst, The Independent, 4th December 2003

good results and a "good" crowd will bring in more people.

idiots will put people off coming. keep idiots out of the ground! (there was one guy annoying me at the last game "phoenix are rubbish" type comments - keep it positive)

organised buses or groups from other cities to go down to big games!
That would be great Mastermind, but where to start?   Should the Yellow Fever supporters committee get in touch with fans in specific outlying areas?.  I live in Otaki, maybe there are other eejiits like me in the vicinity, how would I know?   maybe I should change my username to "Voice in the wilderness"lol.   You get a better view of the game on the telly, but the atmosphere of being at the game is missing, and if groups of fans from out of town were to bus in it could only be good for all concerned.
