Sorry to rain on the parade but let me get this right:

NZ money pays for the Phoenix, which is a largely Australian team (plus a few British and NZ players) playing in the professional Australian A-League.

The Australian football authorities take all the income from the Phoenix making the playoffs, and with no prize money or pathway to the lucrative Asian competition for the Phoenix allowed, the Wellington club's only benefit from reaching the playoffs, or even winning the A League itself, is bragging rights.

FFA won't allow the Phoenix to enter a youth/reserve team in the A League so there is virtually no pathway for young New Zealand players to break into the professional ranks via the Phoenix.

Thus Australia gets all the benefit of Australian players like Durante, McKain, Lia etc getting good NZ financied paydays to play in their own A League, while making it very difficult for the Phoenix to bring through young New Zealand talent.

Excuse me, aren't they taking the piss out of us?

No-one on the ACFC forum to play with?

...and it's "US" now, is it?

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

The hilariousness of it though Jag is that the one person who actually has credibility is HappyTed.  At least ted has always been anti the NZ team concept.  Blue Magic and his ilk were all for it when it was the Kingz in Auckland.

Anyway.  lots of other threads on the play-offs and this.  Wayward.  Second time I've shut one of your threads for breaking the rules.  Don't make a habit of it or you will be banned.  I'm sure you will run home and claim oppression and censorship but there are rules here and everyone else has to obey them.

How's my driving? - Whine here
