I watched Man U play some Turkish team away this week ,
Champions League.....Man U were tearing them a new A-hole.....score was 0-4 to Man U. A huge section of the Turkish supporters turned their backs on the ground, linked arms and bounced up and down while chanting. It was real cool to watch.

Whats that got do do with the Nix...SFA really, but it was funny to watch.
I guess we are all disappointed with the way this season is shaping up but in reality its all part of being a football fan. But how many pro teams have gone nearly two years without defeat in their home ground? We should all be proud of the club for that achievement. There will be other bad days and there will be other good days.....we just have to support them through the rough times as well

I left when the 4th went in. don't know why people are so anti leaving. I mean its their loss if they come back and draw 4-4 all.
Why would you stay and clap them off. If i was a nix player that would anoy me.
Fans have a duty to get behind the players but if the players have already left the game before you have then theres not point sticking around.

Have heard this from a few and think it is a load of tosh. They are still out there, a bit shell-shocked,  despondent at the score, and tired, and leaderless, but doing what they can

People can leave early, its a free world, but its not something I do

this - and until the fourth i was singing for a draw or a win (with the right attitude from players and fans it's possible to score twice in a few minutes ask Man u fans with a ten year memory span and Everton fans - and manu fans who can remember a month ago)

never, ever, surrender!

at the fourth i was singing to cheer myself up

ok maybe that's a mental 'truce ;)

and yep when we belted out those chants at the end i was proud to be a fan

I think everyone was frustrated with the way the game turned out so I can understand those who walked out early.

Each to their own, but I was glad that a good solid core remained and the chanting got louder than ever.

Sort of masochistic pride in our misery and humiliation but I personally would have felt "dirty" by walking out early.

In 1969 my Dad went all the way from Glasgow to  Wembley and watched England stuff Scotland 4-1. I was 9 years old. when he came back he told me that the Tartan Army were still singing "Bonnie Scotland, Bopnnie Scotland, we'll support ya evermore etc etc etc" That stuck with me for life.

It's the same machoistic pride that is healthy and makes light of the humiliation that Scotland has endured over the years. As you all know this has happened many, many times.  I felt the same way at last nights game. It was as if to say "You've beaten us fair and square, well done, but we still love our team, and we CAN take a pasting and still hold our heads high, and we'll be back"

When you walk out you just can't convey that. To me walking is like throwing the toys out the cot.
Just MHO.

I left at the final whistle but didn't stay beyond that to to clap the team off, like I have for every other match, as I didn't feel it was warranted on this occasion.

I have a normal office job. If I've had a good day at the office I appreciate - but don't expect it -  if the boss takes a few extra moments at the end to say "thanks for the effort today, see you tomorrow". Conversely, if I've had a bad day at the office I'm generally fully aware of it and don't expect the boss to still be there applauding me as I leave. (Incidentally, I don't leave early regardless of how poorly I've done).

I think the chanting during injury time, when we were completely down and out, showed enough encouragement to the players to prove that most fans will be there for the club through good and bad times. I'm all for positive encouragement and good on you if you stay to clap the players off, but they would be well aware that they put in a bad shift so I don't think they'd expect it.

Rule #4: Should you happen to see a Nix fan with a kids ticket, wearing opposition colours, leaving early, you are personally responsible for making sure they don't make it out alive. Should you fail to prevent them leaving alive, you yourself will be poked with a pin, glassed, and then lynched.

The ticket buyers who left early, have every right to do so. The people who stayed behind & supported the team/club till the end, have every right to take the p*ss & slag off those early leavers, if they so desire.

Or did I miss a RULE somewhere?

p.s.   As you can see from my signature, I'm used to watching sh*t football, that's why I stayed until every Nix player had left the field.

At the Italia '90 World Cup, Scotland were humiliated 1-0 by rank outsiders Kosta Rica. Leaving the stadium was a horrible experience, being amongst 25,000 shell-shocked Tartan Army foot soldiers. You could of heard a pin drop.

However as we walked, en mass, towards the bars of Genoa (to drown our sorrows) we passed under a huge tunnel which had been closed off to traffic. I will never forget the feeling of masochistic pride when everyone started singing Flower of Scotland.

We then went on to gub Sweden 2-1 and the victory was made sweeter by sticking by the team during the many lows.

By the way, I was there until the bitter end on Wed night and I was proud to join in the injury time chanting.

A) The Phoenix mean too much to me for any scrap of time with them to be passed up so I can get home quicker.

B) They (On the whole) improve my life, the least I can do is show some respect and clap them off.

C) The chanting after their fourth and as thousands of fans left while the game was still on was outstanding.

D) I believed up until goal number #5 we could snatch a result, even after that we could have seen a goal or something to treasure.

E) No respek for those who leave early/boo the team.
You know we belong together...

1) I think some people commenting on this thread need a reality check. Of course people are going to leave before the match ends. People will leave even if we are winning. Yeah it might be a little disrespectful but jesus, deal with it. People have paid their money just as you have and some go to EVERY SINGLE GAME, and may leave early once or twice. To be called anything less than a supporter of this club is insulting and those people levelling that abuse against those people should pull their heads in.

2) This is a flame thread designed by whoooo or a whoooo wanna be to create friction amongst us. Sorry if this has already been pointed out but I question the reasons why this thread was published in the first place.

I left carrying YF flags, when the Brisbane team were doing their warm-down on the pitch.

Does that count?

And I do agree, the chanting during the game was rather average, compared to normal. But it's hard to get crowd enthused to chant when you concede in 4 minutes.

Never switched off a game early or left the ground - why would you?

In football you can score 2 goals in 2 minutes (see: Everton v Man U earlier this year). Also, like other people said if you give up on your team 3/4 way through a game then jump on the bandwagon when they win next week you're a bit of a dick.

Sometimes you just KNOW that the team ain't coming back...

Although Wednesday is probably the first time I've left a Phoenix game early (1-2 minutes early)...my personal records back home are:

40 minutes before full time - Hibs losing 4-1 at home to Dunfermline, finished 4-1.

40 minutes before full time - Hibs losing 4-0 away to Hearts, finished 4-1.

35 minutes before full time - Hibs losing 4-0 away to Celtic, finished 6-0!

So, I left rather than see the team humiliated, and I didn't regret it one bit either.

Why did you even bother turning up then?

Never understood it. Sure if your side just conceded a 4th with a minute to go,leave to perhaps avoid a rush,I vaguely understand that. But to leave just after halftime, what's the point?

Because I'd rather leave than see them humiliated and embarrassed and also endure merciless taunting from fans of bitter rivals?

It's perhaps different here as it's easier to take it from 5 people at the opposite end of the stadium...

I have to say that usually I stay to the end 99% of the time...those 3 above just stick in my head as REALLY bad days. I either leave ridiculously early, or stay to the end in general.

Different culture maybe but it's pretty common to see fans in the UK leave early to 'beat the traffic'...not something I've ever subscribed to I have to say.
