Ifill should have taken it!

Reddy should have taken it ahead of Dadi.  Bugger me sideways with a prized leek I'm pissed.

3 goals in two games vs one choke in a game we would have been extremely lucky to nick a point from.

I'd usually agree, but this was that bad.

And at such an important time in the game and the season.

Still can't quite believe it.

Stevo, that picture's been the best thing in an awful night.

Just grabbed a beer from the fridge that I hadn't tried before and it was the worst beer I've ever had.  When will it stop?  Going to break my leg next.

What was worse is the decision to have Hearfield at the back and Muscat in the mid. Hearfield was lost back there

The one player on the park who has scored a penalty this season for us, of course he should have taken it.

Watching Dadi take that penalty was like watching a car smash in slow motion. You knew exactly what was going to happen but you could not do anything about it. You absolutely knew he was going to miss. His body language was all wrong. He looked nervous and timid.

Why, why change from Ifill to Dadi as the penalty taker? Ifill is cool and calm. He scored a beaut penalty a few weeks ago. Dadi came to perth with so much baggage. Back to his home town in front of his home fans his head would not have been in the right place.

That was the most dumb arse decision in the history of the Phoenix!!!!!!

I could of scored that penalty blindfolded, under the influence, with no legs, and no brain  maybe his bandage was on to tight.

Actually I don't blame Dadi. I blame the coach. Dumb man management....he should have known that Dadi was not the one to take it.

Yes an important game, but they all have been. We are still 6th no matter what the other results are this weekend. Tards at home is a big ask but a point is very realistic and maybe we have got rid of the bad mojo this week and could be up to grab 3 pts.

Then its a game in front of 15k+ rabid one-eyed Mainlanders.

They're all important games now.

Are you for real? Have they pre-sold 15k at chch? if that being the case, that would be the biggest home crowd for 2 seasons, thats not played at ROF.

it's not up to Ricki to decide who takes penalty's. I remember him saying that it is up to the players to work out who will take it.

so its up to Durante to choose who takes them???? I think Chen would have done better....I have been a fan of Dadi but he shouldnt have been the one taking the penalty...what was with his pre kick actions????? was he practising some sort of irish folk dance before kicking the ball ???? :S

just seen it, worse even then Bahrain's shot against us.  Surely everyone who has played the A-League on FM 09 or 10 knows that Dadi's penalty rating is less then 5.

Poor call from Dura

I think he was expecting the keeper to pre meditate a dive and he was going to just roll it down the middle. Kind of looked silly with what eventuated.

it was probably the worst penalty ever seen in the a-league

still, he looked like he wanted to prove a point to his old club, unfortunatly, he looked like and idiot. none more of that please dadi

Well he did prove a point - just not the one he wanted.  At least we have good proof now that if the Nix are ever in need of a penalty taker Reddy and his dodgy leg would be in front of Dadi.

I said when he had the ball, "this has miss written all over it"...nightmare really but I've seen almost as bad, or possibly worse.

I remember Hibs got a 90th minute penalty v Hearts (local and much hated rivals) with the score at 0-0...our regular penalty taker didn't take it for some reason, and the guy who did tried one of those chips right down the middle of the goal...and chipped it right over the bar!

Oh well, at least we know Ifill will be taking the next one!

Have to say I thought the exact same thing. I just had that horrible feeling it wasn't going in and said to my canadian friend (new nix fan) that he was going to miss it.   Needless to say it was heartbreaking to watch and embarrassing

Actually we should be giving Velaphi credit.

1. He had to focus on the ball, not the stuttering run up
2. He had to resist the inclination to leap to one side.
3. He had to re-adjust his body position due to the deceiving speed of the ball (sort of like Nathan Astle dibbly dobbly specials).
4. He had to stay awake long enough for the ball to reach him
5. he had to bend down to scoop the ball up and get his body fully behind the ball to stop any awkward (yet even slower) re-bound.
6. He had to resist the urge to roll on the floor laughing, thus releasing the ball for a quick(ish) follow-up from Dadi.

Not many keepers could have done all of that.

He really is a class keeper and has kept his clean sheet against us intact.

I was hoping that ricki might come out with "Even my missus could have scored that." but instead he opted for the "in house" line.

As I said somewhere else, if Velaphi had dived the wrong way, I don't think the ball would have made it over the line anyway! He'd have had time to get up and stroll back to the middle of the goal and scoop the ball up as it trundled into the 6 yard box.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

The penalty has just been shown on Soccer AM back in the UK and they said it has to be one of the worst ever taken!!!

Ifill needed to take it and hit the cross bar so that Dadi could run in and overhead the rebound into the back of the net. Thats the only way it wouldve worked.

I trust they showed his bicycle kick as well to try and give a slightly more even perspective of the A-League to our less knowledgeable (football-wise and generally) British cousins.
