Hey

Just wondering what the official stance on shirt spinning. Should it be conducted in a clockwise or anti-clockwise direction?

anti-clockwise is easier for the right-handed

What do you do that for?

Much better unspun.

Is that anti-clockwise looking up or down on the shirt? Will I get looked at funny if I use my left hand?

Just spin it the same way as the guy next to you. Easy.

And you're in a zone of topless men. I'm sure you'll get looked at funny for using the other hand...yomcat2007-12-13 12:47:38

Beer in left hand, shirt in right hand.

Spin it the same way as the guy next to you otherwise you'll hit his all the time.

if we got if perfectly sychronized with the earth's rotation would the stadium take off ?

As long as we take corialis force into consideration.

That's not very fast.

If we spun them all the opposite direction to the earth's rotation, and fast enough, time would slow down...

Kinda like this...

If you all spun the other way you might tunnel through to China!

Maybe that was the problem at the Sydney game? Watching the replay, most people were spinning there shirts clockwise.

Clockwise would have created a yellowfever wind which would have given Sydney a slight advantage. I propose shirts are spun in the same direction as the Phoenix are playing. This will create a slight breeze and make it harder for the opposition.

Just another quick thought. This should be termed the butterfly effect!

Good point, however, we would also need to recognise the significance that gravity plays (and gravity aside there are thousands of overweight people in the stadium to weigh it down).

This thread is brilliant by the way.

Overweight people have a larger radius. Therefore, upon spinning, they have a larger angular momentum and steal more of the Earth's.

Any real physicists out there want to do some calculations? (I'm too lazy and forgetful)...

I'll do it, or get one of my friends to, although neither of us are 'real' physicists, I could be if I wanted to.

Just make sure you swing it in the opposite direction to the way you would swing it if you were in the Northern hemisphere
Permalink Permalink

Make sure you don't swing both ways ;)
