I think there was a previous thread like this, in fact I KNOW there was, but I'm not digging it up, and I think a fresh thread is fair enough, seeing as its been a while.

I was thinking of stuff that would be cool to have on the site, so I figured I'd throw it open.

My "ideas"
- Player Profiles (with optional A-League stats)
I figure this may be a job for the official site, but they haven't even got the time to update their points table for the Pre-Season Cup, so I thought I'd mention it to someone more reliable (no offense meant).

- A photo gallery (hey, the ABs have one... but it could be more personal and fan-based, or a bit of both...)

...Actually those were the only practical ideas I had. I'm still holding out for
- A video livestream of games (I'll pay money!)
- Phoenix beer handles

Oh! And can I petition to get Crouchy and Ronaldo replaced with Smeltz and Daniel?

Yeah.  Great ideas.  Especially about ditching Crouch and The Little Winker.  It was OK at the start for a laugh - but we've got our own heroes now.  I'd wet my pants even for delayed video.  The NRL puts up free full replays online within a couple of days after a game is played, which wins a lot of friends....don't know how generous the FFA is though....Stevo2007-07-29 03:40:04

Yeah about the gallery/player profiles - I will check with CNUT but I think we can have something up this week. Just need to find room on the menu!

Decent pint pub guide for these long meandering walks to the Stadium ,starting at the Ed bar in Newtown of course!!

The answer to life's problems are rarely found at the bottom of a beer glass - but it's always worth a look.

Good ideas lads - I will try and get something whipped up over the next few days.

If you have some photos for the gallery - send them to adam at yellowfever.co.nz

I have a whole pile of Phoenix player pics -but most are taken through their kitchen windows from the tree outside their house. I might end up in with a restraining order though, and not be able to go to games. You could maybe use the ones of them taking out their recycling bin though.

Well we'll just petition the A-league guys. I'm already sending them threats of bird-flu tainted KFC from China if they don't comply...;)

Emailed the club regarding player profiles, here is the guts of their reply - fair enough i reckon, they got a wee bit to do at the moment

"Thank you for your email and interest in Wellington Phoenix.

Currently we are working on developing this section. Head shots will be available soon and more information will be added when it is passed by the board.

Keep watching the website.

Thank you for your support and patience." <<<

IMO it makes sense for us to have profiles as well - sounds like ours might be able to a bit more 'quirky' than theirs, and quicker, as im guessing it doesn't need to be passed by any board

Guest reporter invited each week. Independant view from a qualified spectator. One each game home & away. Suggest we make the qualification that they are ex Internationals? Then we can comment on their view.

Melbourne games get Mal Dunford ex captain of NZ
Brisbane games get Greg Brown played for both NZ & AU
Adelaide ?
Central Coast?
Perth ?
Sydney (bound to be a few there)?

Need a few more contacts in Australia but home games won't be a problem with plenty of Wgtn based ex All Whites.

Thoughts?

I like this idea. It might be hard to get journo's or ex-players to write stuff for free though. . . .  Parhaps some of the locals could sumbit a "fans report" on a weekly bassi, like Paul did for the Sydney FC game? We could have someone different each week, and draw from the folks here at YF who enjoy writing . . . . .  Or we could just get Paul to do it every week !!

I like Phil's idea better...journoes and ex-players have avenues of expressing their opinions in other media, but YF is at its heart a fan organisation and website. So reports from different local fans (I suppose they wouldn't have to be local, but only to have been to the game) after each game would be cool, and another way of fostering the budding YF comunity. I was going to suggest maybe an alcoholic reward for thos who have their reports posted, but that would exlude our younger members since we don't want to be irresponisble, do we?

perhaps something for the younger generation of footballers? not neccessarily to contribute to thoughts and opinions expressed in the forum but if they were hooked into the yellow fever concept then it may equate to more interest/bums on seats at home games (eg. mum and dad) thoughts?

I think in a way gorillastyle that is the club's job.  That would mean quite a change in direction for us, could be quite difficult as well and suddenly the what should they and shouldn't kids be exposed to argument becomes an issue.  Next thing you know Feverish is in jail and Frankie Mac has fled the country...
