We haven't seen Cleberson since the Central Coast game (correct me if I'm wrong), where's he gone?? O'Dor and Dodd are a brilliant pair and shouldnt be dropped my any means, but Old seems to be the lone defender on the bench with no sign of Cleberson. Anyone know here he's got to?

A victim of a poor game against CCM and the fact he only plays one position (and a defensive one at that) makes him a luxury they can't afford on the bench.

ok, I did always wander if the reserves got a game, especially seeing the stupid a-league rules of 4 subs. 5 or 6 would have been more really. but it'll be good to see Cleberson back in the team at some point.

Costa, Brownlie, Elrich and Clebo played in a game with some of the Miramar National champs side from a few years back in honour of Timmy Butterfield against a TW side.

It was reasonably competitive, finishing 1-1.

Not like a full reserves game, but Ricki and all the coaching staff were watching so you'd think people would try and shine.

How did the "child prodigy" Costa perform?

Of the Phoenix lads, just behind Brownlie, pretty good.

I actually thought his brother looked better playing for the TW side personally though.

See, I prefer Brownlie over Coveny because Coveny plays exactly like Smeltz as a target man. Though they worked well this sunday, it think Brownlie would compliment Smeltz well.

I don't think Covs is that similar to Smeltz really. Coveny wins everything in the air and Smeltz works well running off him and running at defenders.

You can't drop Covs after his performance against Perth.

I tried to encourage the Junior News to join them, but he wanted to annoy me instead.

A sizeable chunk of both sides were in the Fever Zone in no state to have played a curtain raiser

do the games that the guys play who are not picked for the team get publicised anywhere beforehand?

What he said. I'd probably have gone and watched had I known about it.

Is'nt there a rule that only four foreign (None New Zealand or Australian for the Phoenix however other a-league teams New Zealanders count as foreign players) players in a 23 man squad and no more than 3 in your 15 man game squad? This would explain to me why old has been on the bench infront of Cleberson as Ricky has prefered to have George in his 15.

Yes
[quote=Maggot] and no more than 3 in your 15 man game squad?

Never heard of that one, but I don't think so. Hard News?

I've never heard of it.

Trying to think who else has 4 imports, it's all a bit blurry due to some applying for Australian status.

Maybe Queensland if Seo is still counted as an import ?  Reinaldo, Seo, Marcinho and Lynch would have all been in the 15 sometime this season wouldn't they ?

It's not true. Heaps of teams have had 4 imports in the 15 including US

We have never played four import in our team. Out of Cleberson, Daniel, Felipe, and George who count as our imports either Cleberson or George have always been omitted from the 15. Wouldn't be surprised if its not true however. Someone must know.

Clebo looked to me a bit like Gordon McQueen of Leeds/Man U (late 70's-early 80's) - very exciting to watch, likely to score a goal, but a bit unfamiliar with the central defensive area!  He would definitely add excitement to our games, we'd be a bit like Tottenham Hotspur (ie no defenders), but I think O'Dor and Dodd are more solid at the back.

On the other hand I liked what I saw of Brownlie and wouldn't mind seeing him on the bench again.

What else could he have done?

90 percent sure Seo is still an import. 3rd season in A-League, compared to Wayne O'Sullivan who was in Australia for 6 full years playing football and was still classed as an import. (thats y he became our assistant coach)
