Who should be No.1? Paston or Moss

Without knowing a great deal about either keeper, and only seeing bits and pieces of both, I'm interested to see who u guys rate as the better keeper and y? And should Paston be automatic choice for No.1 or will it be one of the more feircely fought positions? The general feeling Ive recieved so far is that Paston is the better keeper, but I thought I'd ask the question anyway.

So who's it gonna be? Paston or Moss?

Paston, with chances for Moss to break through!

In all honesty.....I you haven't seem them both play, then you answer is a guess.!!

Nether of them are any good....they both lack a lot of skills to be a good consistant keeper.
Yes, Paston had a game or two that he did play well.... but apart from that...hes was very average indeed. I seen him "throw" ball into the net....and his distribution is not the best either...likes to kick balls out on the full....there no 40/20 in this game.
And Moss...haven't seen him play one good game yet...Talks a good game, but has yet to deliver....The game against Brazil...Ihow he was given Man of The Match, after he coceeded 4 goals, played some dodgy football at trhe back and gave away the ball to many times, i will never know..... OH thats why... Riki give him Man of The match so he could get a overseas contract.....And he never really played in Rominia ether before going AOWL.

I stand by what i said before, should have signed a top Aussie keeperand one of these guys...
this is going to be a lllloooonnnnggggggggggggg season for them

The fact you havnt seem (seen) both of them play kinda just puts all your other points to shame

You aren't being very positive Wodger Wabbit. Give these lads a chance. Are you a goalkeeper or something?

wodger wabitt means IF you haven't seen them both play, not that he hasn't seen they play, just a spelling mistake, but that doesn't excuse that he is negative idiot that wouldn't know his arse from his elbow.  Moss or Paston will do fine, just match them with a decent defence unlike Knights days.

Yeah...Spelling mistake, If YOU haven't seen them Play, then your answer will be just a guess.

And trust me, I know where my a*se is and where my elbow is.
And, i could be a Goalkeeper...or something.

I just hope that They have a REALLY GOOD DEFENCE in front of them this season,.....otherwise, they will both be suffering from back injuries.

Sorry, I just don't rate either of these two....just my opinon.

Wodger - have you offered any alternatives (apart from Phil Imray, as the Wests second team keeper is better than him)?

They aren't really alternatives though, are they Wodg ?

They are all currently signed for other A-League clubs (well apart from Willis who is so keen on the game he is considering packing it in - or has packed it in - to be a construction worker).

If you are listing the best Aus options then I'd have Theoklitos, Vukovich and probably Bolton ahead of most of your list.

This 16yo Sydney have as back-up to Bolton sounds superb as well. Hard News2007-05-10 12:45:20

How's about Ali Williams? Or Jacob Oram? LOL

Every keeper has a part of his game to work on. Do we know if Ricki has a GK coach lined up. Get Gouldy involved

For me Paston has better positional sense and the physique while moss is a better shot stopper.

I would go for Paston for now and see which improves the most.

No point wondering what if, as they wont get another keeper to replace them.

Ali Williams. True story. Went to my school, could get in the 1st XI in goal so took up Rugby.

Its no longer a problem.

The fact we have two good keepers is great. Paston will probably start but I think Moss is still quality and will be pushing to get a start. A young keeper like Spoonley into the squad as u20 player would be good as Paston and Moss could tut him.

Paston.

Going by prior history Mark Paston would be my choice, but will have to see them in training and I am sure Moss will be pushing hard for the no. 1 spot.

Moss.

Paston.  Had some good games at the end of last season with some superb saves.  A bit hard for me to comment on his distribution as I had to listen to the entire season on the internet-radio.

Paston just because of the experience. Could have achieved more sucess overseas if it wasn't for injuries.

at least there will be comptetition for the number one so if one gets injured we hav a good bak up goalie unlike some other clubs who have rubbish back up goalies or in newcastles case from last year have none.

paston will start the season, get injured about half way through and then moss will finish the season strongly

I prefer Moss, but Paston looks like he's locked in as the starter for now.

Moss for me. Id go so far as saying hes one of the best in the competition. It reeeally rustles my jimmies at how often Paston finds himself flat footed (ie. Wanderers).

Definitely Moss for me...Paston has a bad habit of not attempting to save shots if he thinks he can't reach them.

I still think Moss, but less vehemently than I did a few years ago.

Even more so after he hurt himself against GCU round 1 last season whilst diving for a save.

Moss,

I can't help but feel Paston is just a moment away from making a mistake. And for such a tall guy he really doesn't demand a high ball / cross that comes through.

That and the fact Moss is a better shot stopper and more agile i would have thought would have given him the edge.

Might be a case of the incumbent has to lose it, rather than hte new guy having to win the spot??

Moss looks like the better keeper.

Paston is the better keeper.

As long as Paston stops watching balls sail past him into the goal while standing completely still, I'll go with him. If he keeps doing it, then I'll go for Moss. They are very evenly matched, but I think this will cause some healthy competition for the starting spot, so neither will get complacent.

Paston is better. Positions himself well.

Moss was pretty ordinary at times for GCU
