People have been coming out the woodwork and attacking Ricki's new contract. Their main weapon of choice it seems is his win percentage record at 33% where someone like Merrick was sacked with 46%. What astounds me is the complete lack of appreciation for context in these statements.
Ricki has built the Phoenix up from scratch, with a limited budget and a developing fan base. Merrick was in charge of an established club, who spend big, and get a massive crowd. How are their win percentages comparable? Ricki has built a successful club from nothing, he did not inherit Man Utd.
People had a go at the All Whites for only drawing at the world cup (this is somehow celebrating mediocrity). What people don't understand when comparing the All Whites to the successful rowing team of NZ is that Football has millions of players around the world. Far more than rowing, therefore the levels of success are dramatically different. I could be the best at a game if I invented it and no one else played it.
Sorry rant over, just think people are talking a big pile of crap.

Goes with the territory.
If you're a coach, you get attacked. It is what it is. Sadly.
Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.
