I too feel that our booing of Seo last season, at home after the elbow incident away, caused him to have one of his worse games which I'm all for, if we can help the team lets do it.  But I also feel this year the booing had no negative effect on Seo,  may be because he was ready for it or it wasn't loud enough I don't know.

If it's agreed it is possible for the YF to psyche out a player by targeting him then I would like to suggest we pick one opposition player for each home game.  But not just boo but whistle, hiss, make a general concophony whenever he gets the ball.

But who?  Someone who might be suspectible, for example if the teams were swapped I would suggest Doddy (if played) as his confidence might be low.  A young player?  Or someone easy to dislike, Joel Griffiths springs to mind.  Or someone like Zullo who you just don't want to have a good game?

But it could back fire and make them play better.

And I don't think it wise to pick the only Black guy or Asian on the field.  Red heads seem to be fair game though.

How do people feel about the zone being semi quiet while the opposition is about to either take a free kick or corner etc... and having one person with freakishly powerful lungs blow a horn with critical timing... Throwing the man well and truly off his task.

Kruse could be a good target as well as nut cruncher.

With Dodds everytime he gets the ball we should shout an encouragemet especially when he does well - perhaps an Ole??
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

The Ruf, The Ruf, The Ruf is on Fire!!

Sounds devious. I like it.

I did this at the league once at the stadium... For conversions etc...
It was incredibly effective. I can blow a horn/trumpet like a cruise ships foghorn.

Could work, gotta be worth a try.

I wonder if we can get feedback from the team or support staff about when there wasn't enough noise or when there was, what they thought worked for us or agin us.  May be they've got ideas they'd like the zone to do.

Just wanted to give my opinion on this matter.

Seo did something wrong in the last season and he was booed for that. I can understand that. He got his punishment for his action.
But I can't understand that some people make racist remarks and make fun of his name. This is very sad and really does make me ashamed to be a Phoenix supporter. It is disgraceful and very worrying.
Diving has now become a part in world football and many players do it. Have a look at Daniel for example. So it also includes our team, the Phoenix. And there is no difference between diving or simulating to be hit by an elbow. Both are cheating.
I didn't boo Seo because I I think we should get over it. We boo him because he got El**ch sent off? Maybe it seems that El**ch is still a very popular player. It is ridiculous to boo Seo just because it is funny. What would we think if other teams in the league would constantly boo Daniel just because he did a dive?

Mate this racist stuff is an absolute joke, did you actually go to the game? about 3 guys started a racist chant and were abused so much by the rest of the Fever Zone that they shut up real quick, that should make you proud of the Fever, not ashamed. If you'd been at the game in the fever zone you would know that.
As for making fun of his name, we take the piss out of almost EVERYONEs name! even our own team for crying out loud. If you'd actually been to a game you would have heard the famous "Nothing rhymes with Barbarouses!" (Sorry if I spelt that wrong Costa). Your inference that we make fun of his name because he's of asian decent is absolute rubbish I'm sorry.

As for Daniel, you are correct, he did dive a lot when he first came here and was given huge stick from everyone including Phoenix supporters about it. Ricki had a chat to him about it and explained that diving is frowned upon in this part of the world, Daniel adapted his game to way we play and he's been great since.

As for the overall thread on diving, I'm clear on it, its cheating and has no place in the game. Players should be given an automatic 4 game ban if found guilty of diving on video evidence post game, with that kind of punishment hanging over there head, players wouldn't dare risk diving. Coaches would actively discourage it and the problem would be solved.

Stephage, if all it takes is 3 idiots starting a bad chant to make you ashamed to be a Phoenix supporter, then your the kind of fair weather fan we don't really need.

Fitz, your reply shows that you are ignorant as you make assumptions about me without having any evidence.
Of course, I went to the game against Queensland last week and by the way, I was in the fever zone. I consider myself a strong Phoenix supporter and I have been following almost all games since the first season.

I was not only referring to the situation in the stadium, but also to some comments about Seo in this forum that I don't agree with. Again, I thought the booing of Seo was ridiculous and I didn't boo him.

Daniel is still doing dives as well as other Phoenix players, such as Gao. Your suggestion of giving players an automatic 4 game ban if found guilty on video evidence post game is rubbish in my opinion. How would you distinguish between a "serious" or "not serious" dive?

Anyway, the point that I wanted to make is that I utterly reject any racist remarks and hope that the yellow fever is going in the right direction. I agree with you, there were only a few remarks during the game, but every single one is one too many.

Care to quote those posts?? Ive never seen one even remotely post on here by anyone...Sure some people arent the bigest fans of his footballing ability or more his diving, but just because hes asian doesnt mean people cant have a go at him for those things. In fact, that seems racist in itself...Can we only give white players sh*t about diving???

Since you were in the zone, you would then know that it WAS only one group of 3 people being racist, and everyone abused them for it...Did you not see that?

Allegedly

Yeah I agree.
Whether Seo is Asian or not, he's a w*nker and he deserves what ever comes his way.

I am ignorant for making assumptions about you? It sounds to me like you are making assumptions about the Yellow Fever, when all you've produced is a one off incident that you got the facts wrong about anyway.
Sorry mate but your comments show your own ignorance, if you were a regular in the zone you would understand just how absurd your comments are.
Your original quote mentions nothing about comments on the forum, I've never seen any so sorry I don't buy that line either.
There is a difference between making sure you get the free kick for a foul, and diving when there is no foul, thats the key difference between what Daniel used to do, and what he does now. Gao is new, he will learn.
"How would you distinguish between a "serious" or "not serious" dive?". You wouldn't, it is either a dive or it isn't.

As with any population base, there are always a few twats who want to make racist remarks, its a fact of life, all we can do is discourage them and encourage good supportive behaviour. We can't police our own fans or you'll end up with a bunch of Ultra's strutting round harassing their own teams fans. Its life, get over it.

Given that there hasn't been a single post supporting your views or your allegations, I think it might be a good time to cut your losses on this one and move on to more important topics.
