I just wacthed "Total Football" (Aussie version) and Robbie Slater was asked the who he thought would win on the weekend Nix or Australia United.....bet you can guess his response Australia United...but he did make the claim that he was not anti New Zealand......

cough.....cough....bullsh*t....cough....cough

he has stated in the past that he does not want a New Zealdn team in the comp....as it improves the quality of the players...etc...from NZ....

Just wondering what your thoughts are as too why he is so anti kiwi

Where can we start with this one?  I know.  Slater has his head so far up his arse that his adams apple is his nose.  That's why he's anti-Kiwi.Stevo2007-09-20 22:51:09

Band of Brothers? Reference to Lt. Dyke? . . . I think that's where it came from right?

Slate, Harper and whats his name they are all turd. I remember in the day of the knights there never ever said a positive thing. If the knights were to win (insert witty joke about the knights never winning) it would always be about how sh*t the other team played.

I hate em all.

He's not ant-kiwi he's just playing a, more or less, role for television. The last time I saw Robbie Slater on TV was in England. Calm, measured and gave a great interview. He's simply doing what that channel he works for want. Be a bit controversial and get the viewers talking about the programme. dairyflat2007-09-21 09:08:50
Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

so what you are saying is that the network want him to give the impression that he is an angry meathead, who hates everything about NZ (and NZ soccer)and want him to be controversial......in that case I think total football & fox sports Australia have achieved there goal

I have resorted to watching the matches with either Robbie or Andy Harper with the mute option firmly in place

He's your typical Aussie sporting commentator really.  The Nix could beat Chelsea Monday, R.Madrid Tuesday, Man U Wednesday, Inter Thursday, and then a Brazilian team featuring Pele, Zico and Scocrates for good measure on Friday, but when it comes to a game against an Aussie team, we're finished...However, I could see the so-so Aussie sporting fan believing him which grates me really... You guys are real idiots, you can't handle someone elses opinion. Adelaide should be considered the favorites as they are simply a better team and it will show on Saturday. So get over yourselves and look at things realistically, Robbie Slater is a better commentator than any idiotic new zealand pruck and he can actually pronounce vowels correctly rather than inserting an inconspicuous 'u'.

So, f**k you new zealand c**ts.

I'm off to have some fush and chups.

Someone with way to much time on his hands has made a Simon Hill pisstake making a play on how some Australians retarded ears here us pronounce words.

Please don't feed the trolls.

Because he is a PRICK and always has been one. At the Northern Spirit one of the teams in the old NSL to show football could work in Australia he started a fans favorite but after he threw a tantrums on the field the pass was not wear he liked it screamed at some of the younger player we all knew he was a prick its the red hair I think .

Thanks for that enlightening message. It seems there's a history of attitude from this clown. How on earth did he worm himself a TV job?

One eyed Robbie Slater or wooden Fred de Jong (although I agreed with pretty much all of Freds commentary on Sat night)

Which is worse...?

Fred is a commentating god in comparison.  Slater's Aussie whine is just as grating as Fred's Monotone, and his eternal vocal masturbation about anyone he played with is sickening.  Anyone he spent time on the pitch with can do no wrong even if they give away a goal and cost his team a win.

He's also the complete master of stating the obvious.  He adds nothing to what Simon Hill delivers as lead.  His comments are not inciteful, informed or even particularly valuable and by all accounts we can be eternally grateful we only get his match commentaries and not his pre-match or weekly summary shows.

At the moment he's ankle deep in a sniping match with Craig Foster of Rivals SBS about Graeme Arnolds reign as Australia coach, none of which is done with him declaring he is one of Arnold's mates and all of it done like a pair of 6 year-olds in the school play ground.

He's a waste of Oxygen.

The reason he found himself on telly is in old soccer as opposed to new football, like pre A-league football in OZ was a joke, corrupt without doubt the most poorly managed sport in the world.

Robbie came from new football, could talk, looked fresh and was Anglo and carried no baggage. He went to Fox who at the time had no football rights. Then two years latter comes the A-league fox buy it and SBS, Craig Foster and that crew no longer have the rights to broadcast football. Fox then pinch Simon Hill from SBS because Fox have all the broadcast rights. Breaking up a great team of Hill & Foster replaced by a still good Hill and the Prick.

Some background info on the Foster / The prick and Graham Arnold.  Graham Arnold was captain coach of the Northern Spirit Robbie (the prick) was his marquee player and an excellent right half. In year two or maybe three Craig Foster was brought in to help the spirit. Craig never really played that well at the spirit. But Arnold was hopeless as a coach and from half way through the first season the chant of Arnold Out just grew louder and louder.

When the spirit starting to run short of money Graham Arnold & Robbie the prick, put quite a lot of cash into the club by way of forgoing wages for shares which Craig never did.

In simple terms Robbie screamed at anyone that did not play to his standards, Arnold could not coach a baby to suck, and Craig had a poor season and a half. Robbie joined Fox who had nothing. Craig was signed by SBS who had the broadcast rights.

Then Foxs brought the football rights and a great team was broken up and the prick found himself in the right place at the right time.

I guess this is not a good time to mention that it took me several years of living here to even begin to be able to distinguish an Aussie accent from a NZ accent. Even now, it's really only the Robbie Slater/Troy Corser accents that make it easy.

Hands up the Kiwis that get asked what part of Australia they're from when overseas... probably about the same as Canadians getting asked where in the US they're from.

Er, that's on the assumpton that Robbie Slater is the one I heard commentating A-League matches with a strong Aussie accent... I don't know for sure which commentator is which.

should we contact Robbie Hater through his website & ask him...the question....he has said it time and time again that he sees no place for an NZ team in the Australian League....his reasoning seems a bit idiotic.... he doesnt want to see NZ fotball improve from having a team in the A league ridiculous I think

Helpful hint - just listen to Australian females talking, you can pick up the accent details a lot easier and quicker. Some are really gorgious until they speak!
