- None of the rest of the team have curly hair; it would upset the balance

- Ricki has a fear of the number 11

- Too busy studying for his NZ citizenship test to come to training

- Can't cook chicken kebabs like Leo Bertos

- Told the rest of the team about his teddy bear collection

- hasn't played since my friends had a boy named Daniel; there must be some connection.

- Troy Hearfield offered to wash Ricki's car every week

The half time show would suffer.

Actually - the half time show did suffer with Daniel getting only Scott Higgins and Dodd to freestyle with.

He would have to stop waving at the fans as much and focus on football...

we all would. let's hope he gets to a state where he can play the full 90' injury-free.

HN or any other knowledgeable (ahahaha) source, any update on Siggy?

A full 90 has he ever played a complete game for us.Sorry but i have serious doubts that he could last a full 90 so given that i would prefer to see him come on when the other team is getting tired.Hopefully

First two games he played the full 90 (Tards and CCM)
The win in Sydney, then 2-2 with Adelaide, 4-1 over Perth
A loss in Newcastle (with Old's after the final whistle goal), then loss to CCM at home.
Missed a few whole games, then the 1-2 to Adelaide and didn't play any more (well, start) in last season.

So that was 8 full games last season.

This season, he played the entire first loss to Perth. Apart from that, he's started and been subbed off 3 times.

Cheerleaders only do 5mins at a time.

FFS, Perth Midfield were at a standstill for the last 10mins...of course he looked good.

herbert complains  the phoenix don't get the chances, daniel gives them good chances and he still does'nt put him in the starting 11.

Bertos is probably one of the better corner takers when Daniels not around

there's no I in team. That said, there is an I in Daniel, so he's lucky to be on the bench. ferrante's and brown are on thin ground too. My team for Friday:

                      Glenn
Emanuel (Manny). Ben.   Andrew.     Tony
                     Jon.        Jeremy
Leo.                                             Adam
                      Vaughn. Shane

Bench
Scott (in for mark)
Karl
Troy
Greg/costa

There is an I in phoenix however, so timbo or mikey might just slip in. also sheds some new light on why LeiLei simply had to go though.

Sorry if I pushed that a bit too farLeeds_Chris2008-12-16 22:16:43

very realistic starting line up. I think this may be what happens.
Daniel should be given a starting role after his Friday performance and after Hearfield's poor attempt.
He has shown enough to earn his spot and at least when he steps into it, he gives it his all and gets the fans into it.
He did play well in combination with hearfield so perhaps this is what Ricki might want.

Daniel played so well last season and even Preseason. He's the creative player that we need, a man who is going to run the centre and not scared to beat a man

thanks for the update regarding his niggling injury, some of us really were wondering why he wasn't getting the game time.

Last game daniel & Christie when doing warm up went over and hi fived some kids that were cheering them on. That was good to see them both take the time to acknowledge them and shows they do take an interest in fans and visa versa.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

Maybe we ought to be discussing this on the match thread. For my two cents:

- ricki learnt from his experiments with brazilians lastyear. Now daniel's a new zealander by passport we'll see more of him.
- ricki feels threatened by his uncanny knack to grow a moustache more retro than that on the original retro ricki

Why isn't Daniel starting?
Ricki's trying hard to trick the opposition into thinking "Oh my God, Daniel's on the bench! They must have even better players in the starting line-up!"
Brilliant ploy Ricki, brilliant!

Oi Oi Edgecumbe... lets have a clean sheet

I know this isn't a seriious thread but we've had another game started without Daniel (Daniel's here, Daniel's there, Daniel's sitting on a chair) and although Hearfield was terrific IMO I could definately see the lack of creativity which showed we he came on, that chip to Lochhead was (quoting HN) "geniius". I also thought that Ferrante was OK, but we would have been better off with Daniel instead of him, therefore keeping Troy's energy.

You know we belong together...
