Uffie said he wants 3-4 more signings. We know Krishna has a deal in front of him and JHS is finally getting a chance to train with the club. It is really just the visa shopping left for Uffie to do & they take time.
If they don’t sign JHS sounds like they will likely look for a non visa backup CB. Payne then being seen primarily as a RB
But it’s the lack of success in finding a suitable backup CB to date, that sounds like in many ways has given JHS his chance
JHS usually plays a RW or RB for Olympic. Not a CB. Who have they got in the academy as a CB. Other names bandied at the beginning of this thread were Mitchell and Schrivers. Anyone know if they have been looked at/considered.

I'll rephrase that.

Schrivers seems the most likely CB option domestically. Whilst there have been more than enough Academy players in the senior squad last 1-2 years.
From what I've read Mitchell is as much a real estate agent these days (though that may well be on the back burner now!) as a footballer. If him and say Brotherton were real prospects for the Nix, think they would have had a Nix trial by now given both have been back in NZ, 2-3 seasons now.

I can envisage us waiting until a lot of the European windows close (in like 6-7 weeks).
Seen reports that he is off to C.S. Herediano in Costa Rica.
I think that report is just the same as Wusty looking for free agents - the "Fabrizio Romano" follow up tweets are from someone else not the real Fabrizio Romano.
Could just be an old pic from last season?? Saying hopefully. I don't think he will be "cheap" since he has come off loan. Transfermarkt still have him at 1.0mill Euros. Under rated by a lot here imo.

Hey I wasn't the only person here suggesting free agents you know.

Apparently Dries Mertens talks with Sydney broke down would be a huge marquee signing if we could get in there but seems unlikely if it's not worked out at Sydney don't see Wellington being that appealing after living in Naples for the last decade.
Well, Will Grigg has joined MK Dons so he's no longer an option for import striker. We obviously don't know whether Talay and Gill were even interested in him to begin with.

Dries Mertens! Crikey, that's a very high level player. $$$$$$

Talks probably broke down when he realized an A-League team could only offer 20% of what his mate Lorenzo is getting at Toronto

No. The transfermarkt valuation algorithm is overrated.
More than we could or should offer…it’s mostly about the money I’d say.
More than WSW wanted to offer too. He’s got used to the inflated situation around the Indian league and fair enough after doing the hard yards in semi-pro leagues. Not much that realistically could be proved in NZ about his football stature, though damn, I wanna win the league.
Would have loved to have seen a triumphant return, but I did wonder if he’d fit in, balance of personalities wise.
While it would have been nice to have Krishna in the yellow and black again, I think it's a best case scenario for both parties that he's signed elsewhere.
Probably only room for 1x 30+ local who relies/d heavily on their speed
They must have thrown a good amount of coin his way to make it happen.
not unexpected, couple of a-league teams put a cheeky offer in front of him but he went for the bigger money in an easier league - at his age it makes perfect sense.
Would've been nice to see him finish his career at the Phoenix but oh well. Come on Talay and Gill, we're counting on you to get us a good import striker.
Turned out to be all about the money for Krishna. Can't blame him I guess. Quick trip to NZ get some picks with old friends and in front of some school kids. Interview about wanting to be close to family. Offers on the table from A league clubs. Would have all helped with him pushing up negotiations for a good last pay day in India.
Yeah, Nah. This source was already dubious, that makes me just think this is just that dude finding a convenient way to back peddle on what he'd already reported (guessed). Ah well, probably for the best anyway. Roy's securing the bag and best of luck to him doing it.
The Nix didn't block him, they were prepared to release him but they asked for a transfer fee which Colorado didn't want to pay. Anyway, it worked out pretty good for Roy staying at the Nix, he became a Johny Warren medalist and secured a marquee transfer overseas while Colorado fell apart.
If this is true and the Phoenix thought they'd secured Roy with a verbal agreement, then I hope they were still scouting and haven't been left in the lurch.

We only have some random new Twitter account that claims a verbal agreement was in place. Take that with a massive grain of salt.
Deals can fall over at any stage, I highly doubt Uffie & Gill put all their eggs into one basket.
Bangalore is a cool city, typically huge and crowded, but it's known as India's silicon valley. There's lots of tech companies there, company I worked for had a thousand odd people in their Bangalore office and it was always fun to go visit.
Lewis Grabban? 34 y/o, Leaving nottingham forrest after captaining them to promotion, could be an option if Lasogga falls through...
I would take Grabban. My only concern is would he be available when we need him? He is the same age as Hooper and did miss several games through injury for Forest in the 20/21 and 21/22 seasons. Though these are apparently the only times he's ever been injured in his career and he did still manage to score 12 goals in 32 games last season.
