Oluwaferanmi Joshua Chibuzo Oluwayemi is an English professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Finnish Veikkausliiga club Lahti. Wikipedia
Cheify seems to feel he fits the ball playing keeper mould though.

“Josh has a fantastic presence. He’s got a good command of his box, communicates well and is very good with his feet,” Italiano said.
“Being able to play out from the back was a big factor when we looked at goalkeepers.
Fudge a duck
A better option than going with some 35 year old keeper
Now now, no need to throw shade at Tony Warner like that ....
Portsmouth boss Danny Cowley seems to be delighted having secured Oluwayemi’s signature today.
Here's a video featuring some YouTubers taking shots against him

And here is some match highlights of when he was at Portsmouth - the match goes to a penalty shootout
Especially if you're young and #2 or #3 in the pecking order at your club. This is where the aleague can really benefit from decent young keepers in the UK.
Oluwayemi didn't have the best season but his whole team didn't perform so can't just blame him.
Previous seasons he has been excellent. I'm sure Oli Sail knows what that's like
Most stats can be deceiving or read multiple ways.
Did he concede 25 from 100 shots on goal? Or did he concede 25 from 25 shots on goal? Because one is great and one is terrible.
Also as Dolores said, the defense could have been shark. Also if he was playing at a higher level, maybe against A League strikers he does even better.
I'll hold my judgement untill we see him in a Nix shirt. In Chiefy we trust.
Hopefully not too much insight on the nix considering what the club looked like when Dylan was here

Dylan "Serendipity Man" Fox. Scores his only ALM goal in the same game, as a new rumoured Nix signing (also called Dylan) scores his only 2 ALM goals.
Plus his keeper team mate in Finland, is now travelling all the way downunder to Wellington. The footall world can be small.
If either Oluwayemi or Ruiz-Díaz have consulted Fox, he must have said something positive about the club.
As an aside 24 yr old Luke Ivanovic (ex SFC) plays for Lahti. Ivanovic went through the SFC youth system, so likely was coached by Chiefy at some point. A useful knowledge sharing conduit perhaps
You can watch a snippet from Josh Oluwayemi's Zoom press conference here. He said the biggest advice he received from Hugo Lloris and Joe Hart was: Play. It's why he's been willing to move to Finland and now New Zealand to continue his development.https://t.co/ySA4ANvmGx

Also happy with the deal even if it is just a loan :) allows Chief to play the way he wants.

Goalkeeper Josh Oluwayemi Joins the Phoenix joins from Finnish Veikkausliiga club FC Lathi for the upcoming A-League Men season! 🐦🔥

Don't know what to make of the signing overall, so will have to do more research, but I do know that his broken thumb injury last season did allow Henry Gray the chance to loan in to Chelmsford City, where he made his senior debut over in England.
So Henry probably rates him. 😂
Fun fact about new Wellington Phoenix import goalkeeper Josh Oluwayemi is that it was his injury whilst on loan at Chelmsford City last season that led to former Welly Nix youngster Henry Gray being brought in as a (very successful) replacement pic.twitter.com/5uVWsi43qw

1 year to see how he goes, maybe, with an extension clause? Or it could just be that we need a year to give AKH a chance to grow and mature into the role.
So presumably he negoiatated an early release around then, and signed for the Nix?? Or maybe the Nix even paid a small transfer fee, the Veikkausliiga season does run until about the last week of October. Lahti are 3rd last, so in some danger of relegation, and might have wanted some compensation to release their no 1 keeper early.
Nix could have paid a fee. If so it would be small, he was only on a 1 year deal at Lahti, and their season is two thirds over.
Nix paid a fee for Piscopo. Having a ball playing keeper is critical to how Chiefy wants the team to play, and the club have just had a bumper few months of transfer fee income.

Josh Oluwayemi was “buzzing” when he heard the Phoenix were interested in him.
“Ruben (Parker) sent me clips of the way the Phoenix played last season and it was very, very exciting,” Oluwayemi said.
“It seemed like all of the players were in tune with how they play.
“Seeing their game style and the quality is what really compelled me to come over to play on the other side of the world.
“The A-League is a brilliant league and Wellington’s a brilliant team that did very well last season.
“I’m chuffed to be joining a bunch of lads that have quality and a team that have done so well.”
Over 14 games he faced a total of 57 shots and saved 32 of them meaning he has a 56.1% save rate this season in Finland. on two occasions he was able to save 5 shots in a single game, and another two occasions he saved 4, and only twice was he unable to stop a single shot.
As for shots faced, twice he had to face 8 shots and one time he had to face 7. To make things worse for Josh, whenever he is in goal his team is conceding an average of 4.07 shots a game. So he probably isn't exactly working with the greatest defense in the the world.
So yeah seems I was too quick to judge, that's my bad.
