imagine having ibuski and eze as the strike partnership - even if Ibuski wasnt giving the full 90 they'd be devastating.
Almost worth the punt and get a local/aussie CB.

If Western are folding hope Chief and Gilly are on the phone to get Ibusuki to join our Japanese guys. Or else who do think they should chase.
I like Ibusuki but we need a visa player at centre back or CAM/wings. With only one spot to play with he's not the right option.

Danzaki would've been great if he hadn't been involved with that spot-fixing sharke
Danzaki had the odd flash of brilliance but overall was very ordinary imo. Abel Walatee was really impressive until he got injured; a speedy, dangerous Ben Old type of winger who could be a good fit for us at no great cost.

What about James Donachie?

This is far from a foregone conclusion lol.

Ibusuki very much a target man/system player with a decent eye for goal as well. But he's not a traditional poacher centre forward in the sense we might want, and Eze is unproven at this level.

Also - we haven't played with a front two much or at all I think under Chiefy? I would be worried our midfield would sit too deep and just try to hoof the ball up to those two, which compared to our opponents, wouldn't be a strong attacking gameplan.

I'd rather an attacking mid or a true winger with our visa spot, then get a decent Aussie CB (Donachie?) to shore up our young defence

Donachie has been signed with Sydney Olympic in the NSW NPL for a few weeks now, was already gone from WU before the license pull.

Australian signing incoming tonight.

Source is saying its Nikola Mileusnic.

How the hell is the club keeping these moves so completely locked down?! Information has been nigh on possible to crack this off season.

Can he play as an attacking midfielder or more a winger?

He's 32 now. A guy who never really reached the heights that his early years at Adelaide promised?

he's pretty quick but more miss than hit. Maybe having some pace in the team will force opposition to adjust and give us space elsewhere.

I think he will take up Rojas's role.

Import keeper, Aussie journeymen rife, questionable outfield imports, potential back 5, problem at left back, youngsters coming through but not quite there yet…

Welcome back 2018/19!!

Looking at his stats pretty under whelming for me not a lot of goals and not a lot of assists. Certainly hope they have someone else coming who is going to provide that attacking impetus as they keep telling us.

On the bright side, 18/19 was a big improvement on the previous season…

I havent really watched much A League bar the NZ teams over the last couple of seasons but it's a name I recognize from the commentary. Is this a decent signing in terms of A League journeyman? Or at least a tier above whatever the hell Retre is?

Is that 6 wingers in the squad now? Copying AFC maybe?
Doesn't really have a 10 skillset IIRC.

Another signing that makes it more likely we will be getting a visa CB. Might be defend and hope sort of stuff this season

Agree it now looks likely we get a visa CB. But I don’t think it’ll be defend and hope, at least if Chiefy wants to keep his job. That was last seasons approach, and it’s very clear that the higher-ups have said that the playing style must change this year.

Very lacklustre signing, with a position and skillset we don't really need. I mean he'll definitely offer some more pace than our current wingers but we're needing more end product from our attackers whether its assist creating or finishing. Also will be blocking LBS development but hopefully LBS will be ahead of him in the pecking order.

Struggling to remember the last time the fandom was united in their excitement at a signing. Is Steven Taylor going too far back? Give me some names people.

Hooper and Hemed were more recent, they were exciting. I was very excited about Rojas too, more than I was when Kosta signed for us the third time.

Chico, Kraev, Lewis, Hooper, Ugarkovic, Sandoval. Tbf with most of our visa's a lot of the time they're coming from not very known leagues or not great records and the aussies we sign are usually on the outer of other teams. And then we haven't signed many kiwis recently either.

This place is far more negative than it used to be. Some are only on here to complain.
I personally think he is a decent signing with experience like you all wanted. LBS still has a lot of learning to do before he is the finished product and we don't want to be just relying on him, didn't work well last season and he doesn't need the pressure.
A couple more signings still to come too

My few memories of him I always thought he was good, so was surprised to see the relative ambivalence towards his signing on here 😂 but it’s more because I remember hearing his name than any particular action. Hope it works out for all involved.

Agree on Ibusuki.

If we got Luka Coveny that would be the first father and son to play for us wouldnt it?

No, I think you'll find David Ball and Ben Waine were the first father and son to play for the Nix :)

I know, I know, its serious!
