Or should i say he was when i spoke to him at training a couple of weeks ago,rather he gets it right than come back to early. Stand to be coŕrected but think it hip and groin picked up end of last season. Also not sure why some would go to the game just to give Rufer shit. Just dont get some.

Gardiner came on for maybe the last 5 mins or so. Not sure when Loke came on, but he had decent minutes on the left side. There were two players with numberless shirts, I had no idea who they were. They looked lively though.

Edit.. after reading Andrew V's comment, I realised I got Gardiner and Cassidy confused. Cassidy played the first half. Gardiner came on late.

Didn't reaslise he picked up an injury. Agreed better to get it right than be rushed back.
That is sad that people were giving Rufer shit. I didn't hear any where I was thankfully. Some people should take a vow of silence if they have nothing nice to say about our own players.
I wasn't there, but am told Alby-Kelly Heald and Xuan Loke were the only first teamers used off the bench in the second half. Trialist/friend of the club Oskar van Hattum was joined by reserves centre back Dylan Gardiner (2006-born), central midfielders Luke Mitchell and Hayden Thomas (both 2006), attacking midfielder Ben Trenberth and striker Jack Clegg (both 2010) in taking the field, with goalkeeper Joseph Chalabi (2008) an unused sub.

Call me old fashioned but your first team squad numbers are 1 - 23, with a TAA exemption for players keeping their academy number while they're at the same club.

Thomas came on for Cassidy after the break. After 15 min of 2nd half Trenberth & Mitchell came on for Walker and Nagasawa. Clegg and OVH came on for Piper and Duran. Gardiner replaced one of the Centre backs. Olympic made a bunch of changes too.
Clegg looked better than a 16 year old and think it was his goal disallowed by the offside. Mitchell had a goal bound shot deflected off target by OVH at the death.
Think the 2 unnumbered players were Clegg and Trenberth.
Should have scored a bunch of goals in 1H. Greeny will be flogging them in finishing drills next week!
Got 2 matches confirmed this month against A League teams. In Australia. Then a maybe on 1 more. This was on an interview with Chris Greenacre weeks ago.
Tuiloma and The Ruf have shed a lot of weight and looking quite fit. There were 4 guys in the second half that wouldn't give Rufer a break. They were all mouth and no support. It was a preseason hit out for the guys. If you can do any better, hold your hand up and approach the club. I look forward to seeing you in a trial match.

Agree, communication in not this clubs strong point. Its so simple just to post..... game coming, time and place and maybe starting 11. Also who and when are we planning to play in Australia? Its called fan engagement. If they cant be bothered why should we.

WSW & CCM - Wednesday & Saturday.
The Phoenix beat unbeaten Northern League champions Birkenhead United 6-2 in a friendly last week, but a trip to Australia this week will provide a better gauge of where they’re at, with pre-season matches against A-League clubs Western Sydney Wanderers on Wednesday and Central Coast Mariners on Saturday.
They also have a game against Macarthur planned for a later date.
I imagine the team had to leave Max Anderson out if he even was there on the bench since he's just arrived here. I imagine next v Mariners he would be involved. & of course the 2 announced today Walter Scott and Bryce Duke by MacArthur game after Mariners. James McGarry probably took it easy since he's only recovered from a strain now. I imagine they would have played academy midfield and Roa Conchie, Anaru Cassidy to test them while waiting for Max Anderson. Probably taken apart ×4 through the substitute and academy midfielders. Got to reduce the minutes of those guys by A League opponent games 2 and 3 this pre season.

Anderson played last weekend v Birkenhead so was presumably involved.
Let's not too hung up on 1 game preseason. We have key players not playing or ready yet. The transfers have come in late and a few who will probably be starters haven't even trained with the squad yet and others have had only had a handful of sessions.
Bidois and Raffa will need to get an understanding and given one has been in a moon boot and the other just arrived (relatively) they have hardly had an opportunity to gel. There a lot to like about piper but would be surprised if he ends up with north of 5 goals.
The Duke and Kazu can be good providers but will need the top 2 to produce the end product. Until these 2 have had a chance to train and play together we can't judge how the season will look. Hopefully this starts soon.
In defence Hughes is injured and LKH was a late withdrawal so again we're missing some quality at the back.
So let's not get too many worried the WSW result. Football is a funny old game and if Piper and Raffa had taken their early chances yesterday we could have been 2 nil up at the break and playing with confidence. If we had won that game wed all been cheering from the rafters and looking forward to a 3 nil win in the 1st derby.
Let's steady the ship and see how the team performs when everyone is fit and on board and actually spent some time together.
True, Bradman. Some players out healing and 3 Phoenix signed only over the past 2 weeks, Bryce Duke still getting travel here sorted. Wanderers signed German Ferreyra, Miguel Di Pizio, Liam Gillion weeks earlier than that. Wanderers also played the Jets earlier I think, Phoenix only the first pre season A League opponent. Lots of puzzle piece picture completing to go next 30 days, Nix. Massive pre season rebuild after Chief left, inevitable.
So the goals went in 2nd half. Obviously there would have been academy players not signed, only in pre season as injury cover/giving time for new signings to arrive. So probably Luke Mitchell, Ryan Lee, Grayson Lunman, etc. Max Anderson maybe off at half time.

Don't think Ryan Lee made the trip.. We have a plethora of full backs at the club. Shame as I think he can kick on as is one of those fullbacks with a big engine and can get forward and deliver crosses and get back and defend. He's Greenys kind of 2 for 1 player.
Heard Luke Mitchell played the 1st half... Not many 10s at the club right now and he has scored a few goals preseason.
Dan Nelson from the reserves also made the trip so also gaining some great experience.
And the ever dependable Dylan Gardiner also made the trip and think he played yesterday after LKH pulled out.
Be good if the club could post details of who is playing. We've got a pretty good fanbase hungry for updates. We're all interested in who's playing... Are the new guys getting time.. What young guys are getting a chance etc.
To be fair to Greeny though he has had a bit on his plate bringing home those transfers going into the cutoff but the clubs social media people could probably up their game here.
Yep with the longest off season in football and no Australia cup or marquee pre season games, information on the pre season games against A league sides should be the minimum expected from an engaged club.
