Fudgeing rollercoaster.. Really should have won it in the end, after being absolutely shark in the first.
Gotta say we look good as a back 4. I hope we see it again.
I have an amazing ability to find my way out of mazes. I'm pathological.

Damn Rufer should’ve tried to make contact with the defender there oh well take the point after the first half but unlucky not to win it in the end
2 months ago
Cant really complain with that. Deserved to be down 2-0 at the half, a much better second half, two off the woodwork. A bit unfortunate but only have ourselves to blame really. Onto the next. Great to have Payne & Mileusnic back too!

What we did in the first half: let’s not

Second half was great.
Considering how poor we were first half I'm pleased we managed to get something out of that. Always good for team moral to come back from 2-0 down.
Neither team will be pleased with that.
The club bought us flowers last weekend, tears in their eyes promising they would and coukd change their ways. A week later it's same appalling behavior. Can't string together two consistent halves of football. And we keep falling for it.

Or even go back post- 4 guys lined up.

Still good fight back, not quite tremendous.

Geez boys. It’s tough being a Nix fan.

Also how good is Payne?

Imagine when we can get him and Tuiloma on the park together.

First 45 was honking... second 45.was excellent... our season wrapped up in two halves of footy.

Good to have Payne back.

This season! 😄
Scored two or more in a game for the sixth time this season.

Feels a bit like a win after a shark 1st half. Overall it is not good enough to climb up the ladder, you can't show up for 45min football and think you'll win the something.
Feels like a loss to me. Yet more evidence we dont have what it takes to put together 90 minute performances (yet alone back to back performances) and we are going nowhere.
Considering they were missing Elagich, Vrinds, Dukuly and Jovanovic (their best 4 players) that first half was pretty unacceptable.. didn’t look good at all, but credit to the second half for that spirit and fight back, pleasing to see… still, the lack of consistency is massive.. the difference between our bad and good is just too big

Just the beginning. Payne back and making a difference. Then Retre providing a bit of experience, if still rusty, to help keep driving it forward. Mileusnic finally getting a bit of time and adding from the bench. And a great sub impact from LBS.

Sheridan and LKH remain problematic together. Retre playing nearer 90 likely gets LKH to the bench.  Mileusnic should also see Sheridan to the bench as soon as he's fit enough.  BT will give us more in the midfield from a back three.

Not a lot of time to get more from those four guys ex injury and new signing in this coming run of games against teams above us. But hopefully we start to see a real turnaround. Sydney and co will want to make sure that's not the case. And getting minutes and game touch back into those guys still needed. Though Payne was almost like he'd not been away.

Absolutely trash first half. And then Chief, the resilience of the squad and the subs got us going and kept us going in the second half.  How quick can we build and get results from here?

Fingers crossed we can kick on for a good finish to the season but still to get everybody fit and firing.

Got to give credit when credit is due. That was a good comeback and probably deserved to win by the end.

However I never want to see LKH and Sheridan in the same team again. That was terrible and the reason why no one passed to Sheridan in the second half is they clearly didn’t trust his ability to wrap a cross with his left foot. I actually don’t see a place for Sheridan in the team moving forward with Payne back and Billy T, but never, never put him on the left.

Auckland will rise once more

Bad luck we were missing both Armiento and Edwards today. Was it just the 1 game ban for Carlo? And would be good to hear when Dan is expected back
2 months ago
Though true, a bit harsh on Sheridan. He at least went forward in the second half. LKH wasn’t doing that.

Harsh on LKH too. He’s been better in a back 3 than fizzing up and down the touch line. But he wasn’t good at all first half.

And the wind helped them in the first half.

And while we didn’t get a late call for LBS and any calls on Kikianis (Sorry Eze man!), we also had a couple of incidents which might have been called as DOGSO on another day.

But I was disappointed that bringing on subs made us worse.

But I’m also suspicious that Najjirine and Retre offer something, even if we don’t immediately see it. Our structure didn’t collapse with them, although the attack went from irresistible to ponderous.

I didn’t think we had that second half in us.

And we’ve got Carlo to come back next game right?

And it feels, sneaking a peak at the schedule, that we need to get points now because the final two months are tough.

A point won at the end of the day, and a good come back. Could have even won it too but for the post off Retre's late effort.

But that first 45 was possibly the worst I've ever seen us play. I really thought we were shot at that point, so credit to get it back to level terms in the end, but if we're serious about wanting to push further up the table this season we need to be on from the first whistle to the last.

Potential for Tuiloma to come straight in, Payne with some valuable minutes in the tank, and we'll have Armiento back next week for Sydney, so there is some reason for optimism I suppose.

Saw first but only bits of the 2nd half. The wind was such a factor, I think it makes it hard to take too much from the result.

But such a flat first half. LKH very poor for that first goal. Sometimes you just want to slap him across the face and say show some effort/mongrel.

I mean he knows Armiento is due back. Same Edwards. Tuiloma can play the next game. Surely you'd be motivated to say to Chiefy don't forget about me. Then he produces such a flat 45 mins.

I know LB/LWB is not his best position, but still. Wouldn't surprise if he doesn't start another game for quite some time. Fiery Hughes shows him up badly.

If Armiento, Edwards and Tuiloma are all available for SFC - I'd drop Sheridan and LKH both out of the match day squad altogether. Plus one of Cassidy/Conchie/Cassidy who all rode the bench today. Harsh but a message from Chiefy that flat, passive, error prone efforts won't be tolerated. The squad is stronger now, standards should rise.

LKH and Sheridan have done a tough shift for the club and deserve respect for that.

But a top A League side is not starting either of them at their current level and if we are to mount any sort of run to the end of the season that's the way it has to be.

There is a reason BT has been signed to play in a back three ahead of LKH.

Armiento, Mileusnic get to fight it out with one of them coming off the bench.

I can see Retre, Rufer and Nagasawa starting in front of the back three with Payne on the right and Armiento/Mileusnic on the left. Eze and Corban up front. LBS super subbing.

Zero room for sentiment and LKH, Sheridan if we get that lot available.

Did you forget about Edwards? Mileusnic isnt a defender he's a forward, fingers crossed he and the new signing banish Ramy to the bench forever

BT said on Sky b4 the match Chiefy sees him on the right of a back 3.

Well, the boys are still undefeated watching the men’s, but that first half really was turgid. Couldn’t make anything stick and that final ball/ touch just wasn’t there. Everyone was poor but fudge me, that left hand side, just an abyss in the first. Sheridan also, the number of times he got the ball in the second half in a great position and cuts inside or goes back wards. What the hell? The subs were the correct call and I think LBS made a big difference. Retre, really seems either over cautious or slow, there were a couple of times prior to his shot I thought he made the wrong or easy call that led to a turn over. But he and was it ramy? were unlucky with their efforts.

If, and it’s a big if, we can get rid of performances like that first half, then we should be able to mount some sort of challenge. Really thought ruder was gonna hit the line with his but no, oh well.

Also, fever seemed awfully quiet in the second half, even when the team seemed to be pushing, what was going on?

Havnt seen many comment about it, but Adelaide were as bad in the second half as we were in the first playing to the same end. Maybe there was more to the wind than some are prepared to admit.

GET YOUR SHIRTS OFF FOR THE BOYS

Good call - that's almost what happened and it worked!
LBS made a difference. Rufer back to his best, and Mileusnic looked very good.
Promising signs, and real competition for places in prospect.

The left is just diabolical. Sheridan is not a left centre back and LKH is not a left wing back.

Two players there doing a half a man’s job.

Would take Sheridan off, put LKH at left back (even though he is preety sharke there as well and needs to be starting at left centre back) play 4 at the back and get LBS on to roam where ever he wants up front.

Need to really chase this game.

His first touch is abysmal for a professional footballer. He makes up for it with very good all round athleticism and a strong work rate.

Three for me, and two for them.

I think in very windy conditions like today the very best technical players like a Goodwin show their class. Despite the wind they still find the right weight of pass etc

Then those like Corban and Eze are a bit more found out. You can train in Welly every day, but the way it swirls around inside the ROF doesn’t really help anyone

But as YH wrote no one shone in that first half for Nix. At least Piper always gives a 100%, others were just too passsive/flat for me

It was Members Appreciation Round.
Maybe they realized they don't have many members.

Honestly  the way Security spoke to me at the gate when I went through the "members" queue, well, it didn't show a lot of Appreciation!

I'm afraid he traps the ball further than I could kick it.

But he has his moments.

Well called.
A problem in the first half was rufer dropping into the backline three (or being caught high) and leaving a void between our two lines

Well that was a game of two halves. When I played in Wellington i remember it was way way easier to play into the wind.
If you are 0-2 at half time you would be happy with a point. But we came so so close to winning.
Good setup change by Chiefy at half time. Great to see Payne back. He transforms the side. LBS was excellent too. Pleased to see Miluesnic, he looks composed on the ball. Big difference bringing on guys with lots of AL experiance like him and Retre.
Take the point, move on to the next game.

Evidence that Rufer still has that idiot side to his game. Totally unnecessary

Not the first time this season we've started with terrible tactics then done the obvious thing in the 2nd half and looked much better.

Can we just...stop doing that? Thanks

This team is really starting to look more and more like theyre held back by a manager overthinking things
