Definitely feels like Oli has stepped up a level since being able to step back to vice-cap.

Like a bit of that extra work has been lifted off his shoulders and he can focus on being an awesome goalie.

I wonder what difference Wootton would have made? Serious question as a senior import.

We got the win, but not the dominant side we’ve been at times this year. Perhaps also the camera set up making it less of a good watch.

But happy with the 3 points, but really not a game of great quality. Poor defending for our goal by them. But as someone mentioned bit of a muted celebration.  With all the injuries and illnesses recently and the disruption around Waine’s transfer I wonder how we’re traveling. Perhaps just running in the Brisbane heat!

But Zawada goes from strength to strength. Bounces back from his tough game for back to back winners.

So if Victory can take a draw or better from Adelaide we stay 4th at the end of the round?

No Wooten. No Kraev. No Pennigton. Rufer, Old still being managed back from injuries. And no worries. Good time to pick up a win v a top 6 side.

Great seeing the boys still out there chatting with fans and signing jerseys. Apparently they didn't get to Brisbane till 1am NZ time last night.

Sky/Vodafone goes straight to ads then a tennis replay the minute the football finishes.
Can I ask what were you watching that gave you post match coverage? Because I'd be happy to boot the coverage I am paying for.

Still over half the competition to be played.

We’ve put together a couple of scrappy wins and we’re up the table.

If we can come home with a wet sail, no reason at all we shouldn’t be trying to win this. Disappointing to have dropped points against City early when we deserved better, but a good ugly win.

If we can just keep the results rolling in who knows? Maybe we’ll be thanking the park-the-bus wins at the end of the season!

Laws did well in Wootton's absence, loved the cheekiness from Zawada and Mauragis towards the end. Sail with some great saves, what happened at the end wasn't nice to watch but it least it died down pretty quickly. Zawada could've had a brace but once again he got us the winner, now only 3 away from Hooper in 19/20, and 4 from Kaludjerovic. Still a bit away from Hemed but he's still got plenty of matches to try and catch up.

I think I might have used up all the Nix's bad luck today. Managed to shatter my wife's car window when mowing the lawns. Aaarghh. So hopefully there is only lots of good luck left for the Nixxx.

Appreciation post to Oi Oi Edgecumbe for sacrificing his wife's car for a Nix win. The good luck charm is real.

Paramount Plus. Good postmatch coverage and interviews. The app is rubbish but when it works it's great!

We really missed Kraev. His combination with Mauragis was a real outlet. But we compensated for it, specially when Old came on and put pressure on them.
Not a fan of the park the bus for all that time, but credit to Uffie for the subs and Ollie for the saves.

Today the players earned and deserved that win. Their mentality appeared much more concentrated as a group. They all did well. Laws did great with no clangers. The Roar tried and tried but we did to them, what they have been doing to other teams. Tight in defence. Zawada joins Kraeve on 5 goals each. What a great return for two imports not familiar with the Nix. Good job. Sasse did some good stuff but needs to be a bit more aware. I was quite pleased with everyone. Alex Rufer - Welcome back, you are doing well on your return.

By my count there's still three more windows plus the windshield to go in Oi Oi's missus car. That should afford us our next four wins on the trot and hopefully helps us close the gap on City.

I don't think it is a coincidence that Rufer comes back and we suddenly have two clean sheets. He is a much more defensive option than Ugarkovic, preferring to sit back and quarterback our attack rather than pushing forward to offer passing options in the middle of the park. It just makes for some very slow build up play & doesn't look at all fluid. Honestly would prefer him coming on when we are parking the bus rather than starting with him.

Old made a real difference when he came on, he got far more involved than Sasse had been. I have been really impressed with the leap he has made in the off season.

Thought the two regulars on here sent me to Facebook.....now your dropping me in your posts. Crazy.

Clean sheets and wins are great - take wins anytime. Certainly not sold on this staff and squad just yet - if we are being brutality honest we got three points against Sydney on the back of two missed pens and last night the Roar were better in most patches of the game but again Sail was MOM. but in fairness thats his job. Roars marquee striker done a runner and they haven't replaced him....timing suited us and we took our luck. Would like to see us beat a top team to get a good measure. Looking forward to next week.

Would be nice in the week heading into a game where for a change people arnt banging on at others that they should be turning up. If next Sunday is anything like today would imagine many would prefer to be near water than sitting in the sun at the stadium. Thats mostly reserved for us tragics.

Dont think that slow play can all be put down to Rufer he seems to cop all the blame for it. Im guessing most of it is under instruction from the Gaffer. Gets bloody frustrating though when like yesterday we are deep on attack and before you know it the ball is back to Sail who then just hoofs it up field and gives possession to Brisbane. Like all of our players Rufers passing can at times be laboured and suspect but then he has the ability to pull out one like the one to Elliot.

Slow build up and backwards passing has never really bothered me that much. Uffie has always favoured it. I'd be concerned if all the extra possession wasn't reflected in the number of chances created but we are getting plenty of those per game, and in fact it's frustrating that we can't convert more of them.

Rufer is excellent in that system and has certainly added some solidity. He has the ability to get forward but currently he isn't, probably because Lewis does it so much better and also because  he's still not fully match fit and lacks a bit of mobility.

I'm not convinced just yet he's the x factor which has given us the two clean sheets though. The Mariners game might give us a better idea because they will test our defensive set up much more than a misfiring Sydney and a frankly slightly toothless Roar.

Reminder that Uffie and his staff are the best performing managerial team in Phoenix history. Add last night’s game and it takes his record to 38W - 21D - 35L with a PPG average of 1.43.

Highest ever points average, only manager with more wins than losses in Phoenix history. His management frustrates me sometimes but there’s no doubt that Uffie is a great manager and by far the best we’ve ever had.

but dont let a full list of stats (facts) slow you down Showtime, bash a team that has won against 12 in Sydney with 9 and against the Roar who have the best defence in the league this season and demonstrated why. They pressed us on everything and let us have the ball - first time in a while I've seen us with that much posession.
I mean really I know it's tough to admit being wrong, but if you cant/wont do thet then at least be big enough to congradulate the team and celebrate the winv- oh and tuen up next week with 20,000 of your FB cronies whoove to bash the nix when it's easy.

Can I  congratulate the team on winning, while also being concerned about our passing sequences?
Like, I’m stoked we won. But think we lacked variety in the way we progressed the ball. But maybe that is just how we dealt with the loss of Kraev, as neither sasse or ball are that creative spark. Not a slight on them, just acknowledging that their strengths are different.
