We arnt letting macarthur siege our goal which is the usual drill after we go ahead. So that is a positive.

Good to see Lewis so involved so far. Looking better than he has for quite a while.

Rock Hopper
Was sort of hoping to see Fenton back on after the lionheart performance a couple weeks back. Keen to see how Payne does at RB though especially if that's something Danny Hay has in mind for the AW's down the line
I'm really surprised that did not happen against Jordan.  Where did he play in the late 2019 games?

Hay would have planned to give him minutes at RB against Uzbekistan. And he was keen to also have a look at Tuiloma there as well

Bugger, Sotirio always reliably offside

And  Sotirio blows it again!

Those two misses will come back to bite us.

And those 2 examples are why Sotirio is so quick but probably capped at A League level.

As soon as I saw it was Sotirio on the follow up I asked myself - 'How far offside is he here?'

Good positive play from Piscopo there though.

Sotirio really needs to learn to watch the defence line if he wants to be a class striker and not just a good squaddie. He has enough speed on hime and knows how to score. It is the small things that let him down.

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

Sotirio wont wanna watch the highlights. Im a sunday league defender and I would have buried that fudgeing header.

Jaushy... oh no not again!

All he had to do was to nod the ball down. He is not Krishna, but needs to work on those basics.

Should be out of sight already in this one. Great ball by Sutton. Poor miss by Sotirio on that one though.

Sails 3 x saves! Nice

The 3rd one was defender I think. Although hard to tell with the generous one camera angle.

You cant really pass around at the back with Surman there. He is just a little too inexperienced to cope with the pressure of the opp strikers.

The presence from Oli at set pieces alone is more than enough to justify his selection.

Meanwhile, christ on a bike sotirio should have a hattrick

Stop fudgeing around with it at the back!!! No wonder Sail is livid with that. Poor end to this first half for mine. Need to sharpen up for the start of the 2nd stanza.

Very entertaining first half. We've looked very solid across the park with some patches we're we totly switched off. Especially Lewis has put us under undue pressure though his passing in the Bulls' half has been really good. Sutton the best man on the park in my opinion. Has been very tidy both defensively and in an attacking sense. Sail... What can I say. That boy is just so so good. Loved the Surman-Laws CB partnership with Payne giving some stability at RB.
Piscopo scored a really good pen. Kurto knows what he is doing between the sticks and almost got a hand to it. Sotirio has been frustrating but also industrious. More than anything else I begrudge him that open goal header because it just showed that he didn't belief that Sutton's cross would reach him and that's bad for a striker. Hopefully he gets a confidence goal as that would help us (and him) a lot. Ball busy as usual, I would like to see him get himself into dangerous positions more though. Sandoval pretty quiet on the balance.

good first half, Hoops would have had a hatty if he was playing. God Sotirio is frustrating, gets in great scoring positions but has a woeful shot on him.
midfields has been ok, but Rufer and Lewis leave me more nervous than id like - great to see Sail back doing what he does.

Talay will be fuming at halftime.

If he's realistic he'll know that for all Sotirio's misses we were opened up at the back several times and lucky not to concede. Don't think Mcarthur have been great frankly, and I expect them to ramp things up in the 2nd half. Unless we can nab a second goal it's going to be a busy and nerve racking half.

Feel like we need another goal. We have tended to conceded under pressure in the last 10.

Positives
• We have the lead.
• Not terribly troubled at the back, Surman has been pretty good and has put himself about. Got a good block on Rose on that flurry of activity at our end.
• Sail - Need I say more? Fantastic to see him back and he's not skipped a beat. 5 saves, and that fantastic 3 saves back to back to back.
• Piscopo got the pen, and has looked lively.

Negatives
• Sotirio finishing and offsides, been very poor for mine. Wouldn't be surprised if he was dragged for Waine, who Im pretty sure would've got a goal out of those chances.
•Piss-arsing around at the back at the backend of that half. We let them get in the game and gave them some sighters. Need to work on that.

Otherwise, happy to take that at H/T. Need to be more clinical in front of goalItoo. I do not want to see us regress and play for the result from the get go. We're not set up for it. Hopefully those missed chances don't come back to bite us.

They might have watched the Cup semi and realised what Victory did in second half there.  Hopefully what Sotirio needs is a bit of calming down his nerves, especially that Waine has not been in great scoring form lately.
I am pleased to see Payne's influence on the park. He has matured as a player.
