that goal says it all really, Sail has had his worst game tonight, no comms with the CB's, really feeling the abscence of Wooton and Payne. we could have coped with one but not both.

We have had one comfortable win all season. I've lost count of the leads we have squandered and when we haven't squandered leads we've barely held on a handful of times. We immediately look awful as soon as we take the lead time and time again, there must be something psychological going on

My main takeaway from this game: Popovic needs to bin the hair gel and buy some clippers. Thinks he's John Aloisi, is actually John Malkovich. Doesn't he realise he's on telly every week? I'm not bitter.

when he had the captains arm band I have certainly been to complain about his performances, since Rufer's return he has been way better. Statistically he is second on the list of saves made this season so he's been off for his own standards but not bad.

Well that was absolutely shark. Not really surprised though.

Very poor by the team tonight.  After a great start - first 20 minutes or so we should have wrapped it up.  Disappointing way to start the weekend losing to a rubbish side like Victory

Learnings (most hated buzz word)-

1. Urgarkovic can not replace Lewis.
2. FTT and all
3. If plan A is sharke, give plan B a chance to work. More changes should have been made at halftime, possibly Rufer and Sutton. Pulling Kraev might have worked, but also he’s got that potential. 
4. We’re short RB cover. 
6. Sail needs to put his sprigs in
7. Poor from the forum, but great effort from the Little Corner of Yellow.

Feel sorry for Surman. Got in that smashing tackle and then next breath gets yellow carded for a very marginal one and it’s turns into the winner.

First time to watch most of the game. And she’s quite tired. Quite happy now looking at the Kuia and the Spider…it’s better counting the number of kids than goals…
 

Very disappointing after a great first twenty minutes, where we controlled everything and scored a lovely goal. Then I think Laws was caught out of position for their first goal. Surman unlucky to conceded the free kick for the second one. Total mess between Surman and Sail for the 3rd. Surman needed to leave that to Sail, if he's coming to head it, then get out of the way!!
Disappointed with Kosta's involvement. Puzzled by Kraev's subbed at half time. Sutts did quite well in his minutes. Bally and Zawada work their butts off.

Agree re Surman/Sail mix up. It's not entirely on Sail as Surman really did show his youthful inexperience. Plus an element of plain bad luck. That ball could not have been better calculated to cause maximum confusion between two players who have barely played together this season.

Embarrassing. Another chance to go second squandered, and another loss to teams at the bottom of the league.

Are the team staying in Aus with this succession of away games? Good thing if so as this AWs coach saga will continue to be an unwelcome distraction in NZ

Victory aren't a rubbish side, the way they've been playing is a lot better than their league position - and the way the Phoenix have been playing lately is the opposite. I said during the week that that result was very much on the cards and Victory were also comfortably the bookies' favourite. It was the result that both teams were eventually going to get, they just got to move on and try to fix the issues, because without some very good finishing from Zawada this loss would've come a lot sooner.

If he’s already committed, a big fu(king yell “KEEPER’S BAAAALLLLL” is required to let the young defence know exactly that he’s to leave it.

I still think Sail is our nr 1 but he has had some poor games this season and that was his worst. 

I doubt it will happen but maybe we could start Alex Paulsen next game? Worst that can happen is he has a bad game just like Oli has been doing on multiple occasions... and Paulsen was superb when he came in last season. Give him a go I'd say. Plus it gives Oli a right kick up the arse that his spot is not assured. 

Oli took the spot of the incumbent and significantly more experienced Marinovic after Stefan had a poor run of form with some brain fades, don’t see why Paulsen shouldn’t be offered the same opportunity.

Oli is well ahead of Paulsen as far as being our #1.
On the giving Oli a rocket - you can almost guarantee the entire team will be getting a rocket. Oli will be harder on himself than the coach. This game is a flush the dunny and move on moment - dwelling on it is daft and will only hunder training and the next game. Payne is back so that should stregthen the defence and set us back on track.
