If that foul on Armiento is with his foot, it's a penalty every day of the week, why do the rules suddenly changed when hes hit him with his head. Robbed tonight.
Well we actually showed some energy late on. Pity it wasn't there when we really needed it. Frankly we were lucky to get a point but maybe the comeback will give us some impetus for next week. Not holding my breath though.
I mean flowchart: Did the player get the ball? No Did they prevent the opposition player from getting the ball? Yes Was it a shooting opportunity? Yes Was it normal football contact or was it flying out pushing? The second one
On Piper.
Still glad to see the fight. Needed to start earlier. Bad choice on the starting 11.
I half wish the club would come out and say post-match "we don't believe Adam Kersey displays the competence required or decision making skills under pressure that meets the high standard expected of an A League football referee and as a result will be boycotting any future Phoenix games he is assigned to for the remainder of the season." He's been criminal for multiple seasons now. And if we're destined for the spoon anyway...
We should no distracted by blaming the ref, that football match was highest sharkhousery, we may squeezed out more points with a better ref. That game had only one proper goal, the first from Fraser and we may deserved one from the Piper cross to Eze in the 66min.
Hughes, Tuiloma, James, Sheridan should start next week as a back 4.
Eze, Piper, Armiento and Mileusnic are direct runners. Did Najjarine make a claim to start ahead of Sandar or Singh (hoping he recovers!) ?
I want us to keep Mandrekjar James. He does some poor stuff. But he does good stuff and we end up not panicking as a result. I’d rather have that extra competition there. LKH and Sheridan should not be starting CBs next season. Though LKH has looked class at times, certainly not enough to demand a starting berth.
I don’t care who coaches, but I do want 8 good performances on the run in. That guarantees a good weekend for me! And for plenty of us.
Entertaining game for last in the league and plenty of good players on display. Glad we at least kept them there. Hunger from the start next time lads.

So… is Eze out next week from THAT yellow..???
Surely not lol
I'd be ropeable if that was the case, but no, that takes him to 4 x 🟨 for the season.
Rufer comes through unscathed on that front too as he was sitting on four before kickoff. And although he hasn't been his solid best of late, or even this season, I'd still feel more at ease with him in midfield for the derby.
Cosgrove and Verstraete are on four cards each ahead of their game at Sydney. Just to add to the storyline. 👀
Unbelievably we could still be just 3 points behind the 6 depending on other results at the end of the round. And with the topsy turvy nature of the league if we can string together some consistent wins, well it didn’t take the Jets much to shoot up.
Good to see Bill on the scoresheet and Eze to onto 8 goals. The lad has a very impressive highlight package from this season. Find ‘im, son! Piper too played some good stuff.
As long as James does not volunteer for penalties, I would keep him. Contrary to many opinions here, Tuiloma did a few things very well tonight and his physicality was a welcome addition. But he looks rusty. Not as much as Singh, but still rusty. I think the midfield was badly missing tonight. This season I have been a fan of Nagasawa, but this was a game to forget for him. And even more so, this is a second game in a row where Sander Kartum was the lost player in the middle, unable to show enough initiative unfortunately. And did I say Singh was quite rusty?
Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days
Just want to give a quick shoutout to my man Kosta Barbarouses who missed a sitter at 2-0 to let us back into the game. Nix legend.
So happy for Eze that he is back outright top (at time of writing this) of the goalscoring charts. Unbelievably hard worker and deserves much better service and support than we give him.

Still…
Are You Not Entertained?

I just can't help but feel if anything the table being so tight is what's papered over the cracks of just how dismal overall the coaching and the players performance have been throughout the season. The potentially ending the round only 3 points behind the top 6 has been the story for the majority of the season now, really.
But based on all the evidence displayed throughout the course of the season we don't seem to have the mental fortitude as a squad to go on and as you say string together some consistent wins. We simply don't seem capable of being able to go on a run and take advantage of the topsy-turvy nature of the league. We've had about three or four false dawns this season. Moments where we've "finally turned the corner." But all very short-lived and quickly enough normal service of bi-polar halves and disjointed and uncohesive performance resumes. At no point have we actually reached and hung about in the top 6 when the carrot has been dangled and despite being given our umpteenth bite at the cherry. Once you're three quarters of the way through the season, in any sport, if a club is going to have a crack at the big time, even if it is a late-come-from-behind-run at the higher rungs of the ladder they'd have shown they have the tools in the toolbox to make it possible by now. We've never displayed anywhere near the competence or cohesion on the field to do so.
I'm looking forward to the explanation of how you can get a card for holding your leg while off the pitch. Sarcastic stretching?
He was being told by the AR to move away from the sideline. And he didn't.
Just curious on the official reason. After all he can't have been interfering with the lino because he was over on the opposite touchline. And he couldn't have been wasting time because he wasn't on the field. Didn't seem to be back chatting either, just clutching at his cramping leg. So I'm not sure what technical regulation he breached that demanded a yellow card.

Phoenix player. Its amazing hardly sees him during the game dosnt rule on the constant arm pulling or jersey grabbing against him. But does notice him off the pitch grabbing at his own leg. Isnt that an obvious yellow.
