I mean CC losing or drawing is still out of our hands either way. I feel the title was ephemera when we lost to CC. It relies on someone else. But who knows? 4 points from the last two still puts pressure on. And as you all told me after the Perth draw- good point on the road. Grrr #sarc.

I guess I’m worried about our performances drop off going into the finals series.

Guaranteed second. Best ever season!

Do you guys reckon Adelaide have a chance at an upset? I have a feeling they might do us a favour.

Fudge.  Between the Paulsen OG and the missed pen it really feels like we threw away 2 points.

Whether CCM win, draw or lose their next game, it'll all come down to the final game of the regular season. Can't ask for more than that!

You are well out of the loop mate !!!! Wait. I see what you’re saying.

I’m just gutted that we aren’t gonna lift it at the stadium next weekend.
The mariners will blow them out or at least draw if they are unlucky and we are so unlucky tonight

I can't see that Jets team beating CCM so all hope rests on Adelaide.

Failing to win due to scoring an own goal & missing a penalty. Big choke. Same as we choked against the Mariners a couple weeks ago. Chiefy needs to turn us into a team that can get the job done when it matters most, and quick. It's ok to lose but the way we conceded that Mariners winner and the way we can't put away a penalty like that is so disappointing.

Apart from that, I think we look better with Ball in the side. I hope he starts against Macarthur.

Disappointment aside, if I’d been told at the start of the season that we’d draw to go top of the league in the penultimate round I’d have been stoked. Perspective helps, but still not ideal.

Well at least we didn't lose.  Knew Rufer wouldn't score with the run up he took.

It is the hope that kills you.
True, as soon as I saw that little stutter I knew we were in trouble. Looked like he had jelly legs, poor bastard. He will be absolutely gutted.

We can still win it next weekend if we win and CCM loses.

If Newcastle walks away with their tails up having drawn with second, maybe they do the ultimate upset next week and beat first.

Stranger things have happened.

you clearly haven't being paying attention to the league in recent weeks to think this. You can take it to the bank right now, if the Mariners need to beat Adelaide to win the plate, they will. I think the Jets are far more likely to take points off them. But now the Jets really need to beat them, a draw is no good.

But same thing in the first half. We didn’t go with form players, mentally fresh players and went too defensive.

Don’t think we can play Payne, Al-Taay and Salas.

Van Hattum has been one of our most dangerous of late and probably should have started. Old looks knackered, but keeps playing. Somehow doesn’t get refs calls.

God we needed Ball or Pennington or someone to find their shooting boots.

It doesn’t help that this is pushing into  late autumn either, tbh.

Hughes woulda got it done! Lol.

Been some amazing performances this season and I really thought we were guna walk it in.

Still, smash MacArthur, make CC sweat all the way and put in a performance in the final series reflecting the courage and tenacity of our whole season and we’ll see. Still potential for two trophies yet!

The Jets we just watched aren't beating CCM, I'm not saying they can't and I'm not saying Adelaide will, but I still think Adelaide are more likely.
They have a chance of finishing top 6 and the Jets don't realistically.

Not the result we wanted but on the other hand we really dominated and on another night we'd have had 3 or 4. We were pretty unlucky their keeper picked tonight to have a blinder. Sure they had chances as well but most were a result of us pushing in the second half and their only goal was an OG anyway. It gives the Mariners an out if they can only manage a draw in one of their next two games - but who knows with this League - on heir night anyone can win.....hopefully Newcastle can do us a favour in their last game vs CCM. Whatever - we all know to have a chance at the premiership we have to win next week. That was always the need and now we need CCM to at least lose one - preferably two but whats the chance of that....... Overall through, based on this form for the Nix - you'd have to feel like we've never had a better chance in the finals series! Next two games must-win homies! What could be better! Lets make the stadium rock!

Let's not forget the Mariners next week have two games three days apart from each other. One of those is of course their massive AFC Cup fixture. Imagine there will definitely be some tired legs because of that. Also, it may be in a limited role at the moment, but at least Zawada is returning.

Surprised you are all so sane right now. I have locked myself in a dark room and currently crying my self to sleep. That was it. I could feel it. I was about to release an absolute house off my shoulders.
I feel heavy, empty and soulless.

I’m gonna be crying for a long time, and not much sleeping

I feel you, it's devastating, but there is still hope. Let's get the stadium packed out next weekend and provide our support so the boys can smash Macarthur!

Oh and also cheer on Newcastle and Adelaide!

Protein or junk food (at least I’m a horrible comfort eater) and watch a re-run of a low intensity comedy show you like…

This was me after the loss to CC. But I’m feeling well, not okay, but that this wasn’t the turning point.

And we’re currently top of the league. Runs in the bank. Points on the board. It might rain and be a heavy pitch. CC might pick up injuries or under rate their opponents…

Rewatch the Victory highlights of Surman’s goal! Kosta’s goals if the season. Krishna’s goals. That helps too…

Take care- it might be the most important thing in the world, but that’s because it’s also just a game like tetris or Uno or hallway cricket and it’s also not too real or consequential…

Unfortunately I wouldn't be relying on Adelaide. Not only do they have to win both their last two games against very difficult opponents (Roar and CCM) but they need WSW v Melb City to be a draw. If it's anything other than a draw they will be out of contention.

Even it it is a draw they still have to hope WSW and City don't win their respective last round matches. So the combination of results that would leave Adelaide still with something to play for vs CCM is incredibly unlikely.

Totally. It's football, upsets happen. Ryan Scott is the form GK in the comp. Jets are on a little roll, unbeaten in 4 games now. For sure they can beat a CCM side, a few days after the Mariners big AFC Cup game. Maybe it will piss down with rain again next Saturday in the Castle, a handy leveller.

Nix were patchy, but still the dominant side, especially possession wise. They can still win this thing. Rufer's pen bangs in off the upright, rather than the other direction and it's a whole different feeling/scenario. A game literally of inches. I think the wet surface affected his approach in, scared of slipping over.

Got a feeling there is going to be plenty more momentum swings and drama over the next few weeks, including the semi finals. CCM really do have a crazy few weeks ahead of them, especially if they make the AFC Cup Final, to be played in a fortnight in the Middle East.

All is far far from lost. Top of the league for the next 8 days!

Did kosta have the biggest case of the yips in front of goal that we’ve seen in a nix shirt? Even the one he did get was setup by him absolutely fluffing it. On another night, he gets 8.

We were poor in the first half - but came out really strong in the second and missed out on a couple goals, because of the post, and because of the goal keeper having a great game.

I still have faith - Adelaide are a enigma at the moment, terrible on D, but with Arakunda, the look amazing on attack. If he has a good night they have every chance on winning. Lets hope for Kaltak to get his first red card for the season.

And Newcaste are unbeaten in 4 - and seem to be playing some decent ball. They're a chance definately - albeit, probably not as good as Adelaide are.

Shout out to Rufs. He will be hurting and replaying it in his head more than us. He still fronted to do the aftermatch interview, straight after the final whistle. True leadership. Deserved more. His chest down and volley shot was terrific. He needed Kosta and co to have scored a few to take the pressure off the pen. Anyway, we shouldn't really have even got the pen, Zawada gave the defender a good shove. I'd be gutted if we had a pen awarded against us in the same circumstances.

Oi Oi Edgecumbe... lets have a clean sheet

Going high top right seems like a high risk pen. Ryan Scott making some great saves earlier in the match might have got into his head a bit.

Oh god, I can see it now. It feels very similar to the moment of Winnie’s goal landing in the back of the net in the World Cup, but sustained, brilliant, and unbearably joyous, raucous and filled with hope and tinged with the dread fear it could be taken away again.

Dreaming is free of charge I guess! Thanks for that.

First game I've missed all season on the box. Just got rid of BT and was working when shown on the Net. Before KO I thought CCM were champs, they are Champions now.

As soon as Roofs stepped up it was obvious he was going right, just like his last pen, I think it would have been saved if on target.

I've seen comments here saying players are tired, they've played only half as many games as they would have played in Europe.

Much like our great season under Merrick the wheels have come off at the end but it has been a great season, hopefully we'll be even better next season with Paulsen, Old, Sutts, Sheridan, Hughes, LKH, and OVH another season older and wiser.

I think Surman will be the only young player to leave, Paulsen and Old not there yet as this match showed for Paulsen, and the last game for Old.

We do need two plus strikers to replace Ball and Zawada, Kosta too maybe (we shouldn't have given Ball that contract he has, our fault, not his).

Chiefy will have learnt from the last few poor results to also improve, so bring on the 2024/5 season.
