early days but better signs...think ufuk gone has been a breath of fresh air for this group. Poor league this season so its our chance to go well.

The biggest issue we have now is that after two home games in Wellington we effectively have 3 games away up next with :
Victory at Melbourne
City at Go Media (Auckland)
WU at Melbourne
Ends up being a month since we've had football in Wellington, which kills any momentum, especially if we lose.

It's very annoying. At least this won't happen next season. I chose Wellington as the place to retire in NZ simply for the Nix. I need football to follow. I want to be in a packed stadium (🙄 ) every other week.

Not necessarily a bad thing to have a couple of weeks off after back to back games. A large chunk of the fanbase won’t be coming to every game.

We had a bunch of home games early on last season, and then big stretches in the second half of the season away from home. Don’t mind having more home games towards the back end of the season this year.

On the other hand, if we get another good result away to Victory, momentum going into the Auckland game is good and we can get a big crowd there.

I mean I'm confident against any team, Victory away is always tough.
City in Auckland should be winnable.
Western United away again tough but winnable.

Queenslander 3x a year.

Very much in this camp. I didn't know what to expect this season, but seeing the development of both sides is exciting. Is it all going to be like this? Of course not, but nice to start a season positively for a change.

A few chattery things:
A hat trick! Brockie and who else? Not many, if any. That dude ex- CC with 4 and…

We’re guna see Suts playing a bit further forward! What surprises does that have lined up? He does have a rocket shot on him.

Al-Talay was described on the pod as a bruiser who likes a tackle. Have we not had a chap like that of late?

And more A league watchers- is it fair to say we’ve played weaker teams so far and that there are teams similar in strength to previous years we haven’t played yet? Or have we just played well against or at least neutralised guys like Marcello who are guna be top players this year?

Also- a hat trick! 5 goals! Who would have predicted it? Wooo

Cam’s graphic showing all Nix hat tricks. I remember that David Williams one was special, stepping up to lead the line himself with Krishna out suspended. Scores about 30 seconds into the game and Piney later says his famous line “No Krishna, no problem. A new role, another goal!”

You’re right that we haven’t had a bruiser in midfield for a while too. Last one was probably Devlin.

Blake Powell! That’s the guy.
And not Brockie.

Why can’t I remember Burnsy/Krishna/Williams…! Krishna wasn’t under Kalezic when he wasn’t celebrating or something dumb like that?

Was it in that game where we put 7 past Central Coast?

That hat tricks thing would make a cool official poster for the club or perhaps another billboard somewhere..along with the trading cards!!

Brockie missed out on a hatty cuz Totori didn't pass the ball vs the Jets -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eMJhxP7pxsM&t=340s
Krishna's hatty was in his last season with us -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xC4WkHd_5-Y

I think there was something retro cool about a couple of the goals- two up front and a flick on from Watson- especially in a game we were supposed to get smashed in. Perhaps his career highlight?

Mental- Williams with a pen for early doors City against us when Burns got his hatty, as well as Bonevacia and Krishna. Man have we squandered some talent in our late season work!

And Williams hatty finished with that trademark curler! Remember those more than the hatty.

That Rudan team was good too- Taylor, Kurto, Libby, Krishna, Williams, Maxi and Singh…and the was it Mani (?) playing on one foot all season, but with class.

And now we’ve got the start of two new scoring streaks and a hatty for Zawada!

Burgess only has 1 foot, so probably him. That was a great side but the lack of a RB to back up Fenton ultimately cost us (remember Williams at RWB the last few rounds & Lowry at RWB in the finals match?). That & Rudan being tapped up to join Western before the season was over.

Krishna one was special. It was against Melbourne City in his last ever home game, he scored the 3rd in injury time by toe poking it past Galekovic in a corner kick scramble.
