25 - Kosta Barbarouses' 58th-minute goal in #MACvWEL came after a build up of 25 passes - the most of any goal scored so far in the 2023/24 @ALeagueMen campaign. Matrix. pic.twitter.com/a8JE6e7fMz
That last goal was great because of the pace on the delivery and because Kosta asked for where he wanted it and got it spot on.
If you look at say Kraev’s initial header, it’s a cross that’s floated in and he doesn’t get much power into it. Anything with a bit of pace makes it that much easier to put past a keeper.
Also any news on Rufer? That was blood flowing liberally out of his nose?

It depends with balls floated in. One of the best goals I have ever seen was Grant Turner against Aussie in a World Cup Qualifier in 1981 when Buzza McKay floated a beautiful ball in. Also Beckham had the ability to place it on a dime for team mates to head home. Many great goals are still being scored in The EPL from balls floated in.
I wonder what happens to the teams psych now being chased. So far the season runs pretty smooth, last week’s blip seemed not having an impact. It will be interesting to see the team reaction if we lose a few games in a row.
Thinking about van Hattum a bit more to- he looks stronger and fitter. It’s obvious he’s been training well and not just standing still as a player.
You can see now how much Ben Old is able to contribute and he’s been in and out of the side, and not just with injury, or the wait Roy Krishna had to have before Ernie was satisfied with him as an A league player. The words ‘flat track bully’ were uttered by Fever elite members.
I think it’s really hard to predict how players will turn out, but it certainly looks like he’s not standing still just because he isn’t getting minutes and he’s going to give tired defenders headaches at the very least.
Van Hattum is obviously showing something at the training ground otherwise he wouldn't be getting minutes or still in the squad. It will be hard to translate it with limited minutes in a scrappy Nix side. But I feel like he needed to put away his shot on Monday and he probably knows it.

You could see his reaction afterwards, he definitely knew that was his chance.

I did not rate him as well, but then my son told me that he's actually good. My son is always right in those things.

264 mins over 22 games. He just hasn't had much of a run to show what he has.

That gives great context. To add, that one early goal of Waines was a 50cm tap-in in injury time while down 3-1.
To counter, OVH is already older than Waine was when he signed with Plymouth.
Nix’ supporters voted in their droves to secure Kosta Barbarouses Isuzu UTE Goal of the Week honours for this tidy finish against Macarthur 🎯@IsuzuUTEpic.twitter.com/mN9nPYAY8A

Victim of circumstance. OvH was first called into the match day squad in 2019 (FFA cup) before the U17 WC. Might have been Sut’s first call up too - I’d have to check that. Was being lined us for a scholarship deal on return but broke his foot and was out for several months, then Covid hit and none of the academy got to even train with first team for the rest of the season and all the next one.
