McCarron would be the logical choice, even if AKH is fully fit he's lacking gametime.
Not convinced he is as  ready as some think he is, some old heads around me were pretty nervous with some of his movement. If Josh is out long term have to hope Alby isnt far away. Yep get he must have been nervous and hopefully he settles if he has to step up.

McCarron was absolutely perfect apart from the goal.
He deserves encouragement and support.

Think you have a lower ceiling for perfect than some of us do. Said i hope he can step up and that maybe  nerves may have got to him.
But no way was he "absolutely perfect"

What optimistic martinb and his fake accounts? 😂

Really shows which of us chose to be a lawyer, huh?
I give everyone the benefit of my opinions for free! And at 18k posts and laziness you think I’d set up multis to agree with myself? That’s a completely different self promoter type.

Anyway- he wraps his foot around the ball, roles it beautifully along the deck parallel to the goal and finds Armiento. I was worried he’d hack at it and waste the opportunity slicing it to the right or missing the bottom left. No chance. Great play. Get yourself to spec savers or I’ll get my troll spray.
And here’s me thinking/ hoping the Nix will have a run of blasting away a few sides where Piper or Eze or Armiento decides to get a hatty and we surprise Coochie into the bargain. Not an easy thing to do, either of them, but I’m going to live this week with this on my preferred future timeline and it feels good!

Never a pass, he only got his head up after he hit it to see where it went.

Nice to get a bit of luck.

Pass for me and wasnt the only nice touch of his either in the first half he controlled and hit a nice long pass. does seem as if he has spent some time on that area of his game. Not sure why its so hard for some to give him some credit for his efforts.

I maybe criticising Piper’s first touch as it’s the usual narrative to go with. He definitely had a couple of poor ones against the Jets.

But hey it’s the ALM not EPL, so hopefully he can improve that part of his game whereby it’s not talked about anymore. Taking Nagasawa’s pass with his left on the move and then scoring with his right, I reckon
he may have butchered that last season

And re the Armiento assist someone should just ask Corban. The majority say it was a pass.

In Eze, Piper has an import striker who he can model himself on. Similar physical attributes and combative mentality. Some big squats in the gym and he may even become as pacey as the Nigerian

Perhaps a bit of luck.
But also perhaps a good bit of percentage play? Doesn’t back himself to lash it past the keeper, but knows he’s got 3 Nix players in the box on his left and thinks the best option is across the front of goal looking for one of them to have got in position to tuck it away?

I don’t necessarily think he was that bad for the goal either. He would of preferred to have caught it or knocked it around the post but it wasn’t a major FU.

Yep if that’s his biggest FU this season, he will end up as keeper of the league.

Got to give an 18 year old every chance, especially in that position where all slight mistakes and decisions are magnified ten times.

He looks less heart attack potential then Woud.

Anyone who has ever played football before knows that was a pass from Piper. Just does not look like a shot that has gone awry.

Yeah I can see why people would think it was shot since he hit with his laces but it was because the ball was bouncing and its easier to get over it and play it along the ground like he did with the laces rather playing it across his body with the inside of his boot and risk ankling it.

Watch the low side on shot and it is obvious

Many players resemble some other well known player in playing style and skill set. But I cant think who Piper is like. Anyone?

Who would've thought when Piper first came into the Nix that a year later he'd have chalked up four goals and three assists? Amazing. I actually can't recall a more unusual player in the club's history.

I think he's slow getting down and that'll cost goals.

Played football my whole life, ran a football academy and coached at the semi pro level... I will stick with my, it was shot, come cross.

But I bow down to your clearly superior knowledge and expertise!!

Maybe.
Note in this Isa Prins goal package, McCarron saves a long range shot for Nix reserves against Olympic, only for the ball to fall nicely for a following up Prins.

This one and the CCM game really seems he should be trying to hold onto them rather then parry.

Not super well known but I see some similarities with West Brom striker Aune Heggebø. Big, strong and physical, touch can sometimes look clumsy but gets in all the right areas and a real threat in the box

Yes! I was thinking Corey Anderson.

Anyone know the story behind James's celebration?
From some brief social media sleuthing, looks like just a reference to his partner's name (who was in the stands).
