As someone from a family of Charlton Athletic supporters am enjoying seeing Elliott Lee getting amongst it - former Charlton player and son of Addicks legend and future Newcastle and England player Rob Lee...
Phil Parkinson was Charlton's first manager after relegation from the EPL in 2007 for three and a half seasons....

Italiano out! Greenacre in. The central league team has a different vibe.

The academy guys are really up for this. I wonder if it is more the occasion or the coaching difference.

If the main team had this energy, we would be so good to watch and probably would have done much better last season.

Probably more do do with the academy lads being a good part of the way through their season, match fitness will be there for them

Cassidy. My mate that plays central league rates him the best out of the academy team.

I think Candy has looked really bright too!

Those kids were good, actually really impressed by the two midfielders operating in the centre. Cassidy apparently and also the number 42.

Big skilful units who get around and Cassidy raking passes were classy.

It's a strange feeling that we won because of a goalkeeping howler instead of losing because of one.

This will be huge for the academy program and hopefully the club getting this positive exposure. Might actually watch Welcome to Wrexham just for this game.

That was the funnest Nix game I've watched all year. Even though this was just a friendly it was totally fuelled with emotion. Haven't felt that in a while. Those youngsters were absolutely beyond fantastic! Sign Flowerdew up, he seems an intelligent player. Made some good runs, no fear. That's what we need. Wonder how much Greenacre tactics were part of this? We looked confident and set up well.

Unreal, so proud of the lads.

Boca Juniors, West Ham, and now Wrexham.

Who else are we going to upset in our history?

A post-script. The crowd in the last 15-20 minutes was great to hear. Yellow fever in full voice. fantastic.

Was pretty enjoyable, but if you didnt know which was which, and you werent watching on an HD TV, you'd have thought the second half team was the "first" team. The first half was just a continuous series of Nix making unforced errors playing out from the back and/or through midfield, with Wrexham able to regain possession repeatedly with only the mildest of presses. A decent opposition playing well should have punished us multiple times.

From the first team, LBS looked good, maybe Hughes? Nobody else played all that well I thought.

The academy side blew me away, simple as that.

In all honesty, the kids were more crisp and better going forward than the starting team.

And I dont put it down to fitness. The passing from midfield was classy.

Thought that was one of Nagasawa's better games in a Nix shirt tbh. Really wasn't a fan in his debut season though

Conchie also decent for his standards

Lee (31 LB), Watson (32 LM), Gardiner (33 CB), Cassidy (37 CM), Gillion (42 CM), Candy (46 RM), and Flowerdew (47 ST) all with standout performances. Hope to see them more in the future.

have the academy kids been playing together in central league or something like that for a few months now?

edit: saw this was answered and is actually the case. Was great to watch the future of the Nix in any case!

 Agree, great commentary tonight.

People need to remember the Academy guys are well into their season so should be match hardened. the A League guys started back 1st of July so are only into the 3rd week of getting ready for an October start so a bit of rustiness is easily explained away.

I am still unsure if this game was good or bad for Chiefs reign

Still, don't think many people expected them to hold their own and perform like they did, massive credit to them and Greenacre.

Wrexham were pretty poor all game, but I was still concerned that once the academy players/CL side came on in the 2nd half, things could get ugly, boy did they prove me wrong.

Just got back from the game. First time I've ever seen the lads win at Sky Stadium well worth the brisk less than 24 hour trip to Welly. How good was the "you're just a small town in England!" Chant. Fever were on form tongiht, as we're the youngsters!

Great result and well done to the young fellas.

It seems Chiefy is going with the same old game plan. Absolutely dire stuff from him. I don’t care it’s only early in pre season. It was embarrassing what was served up in the first half. Literally nothing has changed off the back of a dreadful season. Shameful.

Chiefy out.

Greenie in.

There will want to be a big step up against Perth next week. more dire stuff and questions will be asked. Given who didnt play in the game think its way to early for people to be righting them off.
