we had loads of members when most of the country thought the All Chokes were the best things since sliced bread.  We may have got some new members recently, but that is because we are an excellent site, and nothing to do with the egg chasers.

All I do is make the stuff I would've liked
Reference things I wanna watch, reference girls I wanna bite
Now I'm firefly like a burning kite
And yousa fake fuck like a fleshlight

I don't know.  Felipe didn't get the sh*t kicked out of him by Phoenix players.  Of course we'd have to ignore that fact that we were sh*t.

Off the topic I know, but with Newcastle as hard up for players this Sunday as us, $4 for a Phoenix win I reckon is a decent bet

So true. Blame the ref, Henry. Anyone but the players. Sun shines out their arse, thats why after getting knocked out they go get pissed and trash people's cars and hotels. Nice one.

SPARC only support teams that have a chance at winning their respective world champs (see their website, they freely admit..)...maybe they should cut rugby funding?

SPARC = a joke

Why they contiunue to support sports that nobody in the world plays, is beyond me. Funding should be based on support and player participation..

Allegedly

Player participation should be bloomin fundamental to Sparc funding!

If its not a major factor, it is time we started kicking up a massive bloody fuss.

well those two would be true sporting heroes then, and to be fair much as i get pissed of at all the priveleges rugby and rugby players get in this country and rugby player that comes to more than one Phoenix game is alright in my book

was talking to a rugby player after the Perth game he said he's been telling his mates how good the Phoenix are but they won't listen (must be those cauliflower ears)

if participation and performance are the key factors the gap between football and rugby should be smaller than it is and about to close at an even quicker rate

About time  SPARC lifted their game!

What a bunch of plodders!

I would say a large portion of your walk up crowd are Rugby affiliated kiwis who enjoy watching sport
and enjoy the stadium. I go to watch the Nix and will be there to watch the league on Sunday as will a lot of people I know who you refer to as egg chasers.

You lot are like someone who has just won a large sum of money (eg you normally have 50 people watching your top club games and now you have thousands,) dont blow it enjoy it!

Things could turn to custard (thank fully you wont notice it on your shirts) really quickly with some losses.

People talking about getting Nix tattoos.... Really!!

Go the NIX!!!

you're right! what were we thinking?! we totally should just be casual fans - passion is overrated, i much prefer plaid pajamas and a good Grisholm novel anyway

ps. why did you write "nix" in capitals? that's a bit shouty

This form of typography also appears in on-line forums. It was once an inevitable byproduct of using machines with limited support for lowercase text (such as certain dumb terminals, early Apple II models), but as full support of ASCII became standard, it became solely identified with "shouting" or attention-seeking behaviour. As a result, netiquette generally discourages the use of all caps.

Zinger, I am happy that you come to watch the Phoenix play and I hope you enjoy the games,

as to offering us advice on how to react to the fact that New Zealand has such a great football team, and suggesting some kind of denial of the ecstasy that we as passionate football fans feel - forget it

I expect you are feeling a bit sad since last Sunday, and consequently I for one will assume that this troll-lite behaviour is part of your coping mechanism

In the meantime, I'm predicting great things for the Nix and great things for football in NZ
(in your delicate state I'll spare you my views regarding rugby)

I completely agree.

I am sports fan. I am a Wellington rugby season pass holder and my main interest is in Rugby, but that hasn't stopped me turning up at the stadium in my Retro Ricki t-shirt for every home game, and joining the atmosphere at the Fever Lounge for every away game.
Tomorrows game will be the first I will miss, but only because I will be down at the stadium watching another New Zealand team representing another 'minority' sport.

Let's stop trying to put down and offend people like zinger and myself, as half the Phoenix fan base are probably just like us.

I don't believe that Zinger can come onto a football board and tell people to calm down about the sport they love and not expect to have his views criticized

again i'm glad you enjoy the Phoenix's marvellous style of football, but i don't waste my time going onto a rugby board and telling them what to do

if people come on here and say "{You should...", then their choice of language suggests that they aren't YF at heart otherwise they'd say "we"

and we will support our football team anyway we like

I used to be in the 'don't critisize rugby fans' category - I even made a big post about it on here. However, after reading some of the comments that rugby fans make about 'poofball' in New Zealand it's hard not to get defensive.

I'm first and foremost a football supporter though I do support the All Blacks and Wellington/Hurricanes as well.

I had to laugh at the guy that said things could turn to custard if we lose a few. Uh - mate - we've already lost a couple and we're still going great.

this is not a case of one sport v another - agreed

Its great we now have some options and diversity in our sport here in Wellington. Genuine sports fans like zinger and co are ideal - because they will back and support any good sport and any good Wellington side.

it is great that zinger and others can get behind the Phoenix at the ring of fire. But, let's not forget the huge numbers of football fans and players who turn out to support the Hurricanes every year.

The 15,000 people who run around a football field in Wellington every weekend during our winter have always been generous in their support of Wellington rugby.

I hope the lesser number of people who strap on their rugby boots every season are as open-minded about supporting Wellington's football team.

exactly, what's the point of Zinger's post? if you aren't as excited as us then that's cool but people get excited over waaaaay stranger things than their football team so what's the problem? go find a budgie fanciers forum and tell them not to get excited about budgies (no offence to people who are into budgies)

Oh Sorrrry!  I didn't realise it was compulsory to be YF to watch the Nix play, You support them how you like, I dont really give a sh*t and I will continue to go to the games as long as I enjoy going.

I am not suited to pull off my shirt and wave it around because I dont have a big white gut or a rack of skinny ribs to show off.Ill leave that to you YF fanatics.

All I am saying is dont start knocking Rugby because your having your 15 minutes of fame I am sure you need the oval ball code more than they need the round ball support.

I am  and always will be a Wellington sports supporter

I'm within seconds of locking this for the sheer volume of stupid.

Zinger, understand this is a Phoenix forum primarily popping in here to make comments denegrating the supporters of the Phoenix isn't going to make you popular.

The whole, you need us more than we need you thing is either foolish or deliberate trolling which we ban Australian team supporters for.

Everyone else, if you want to talk Rugby, go to off topic or a Rugby forum (may I suggest www.thesilverfern.com)

One more post on these lines and she's locked.

The beauty of football is the passion shown by football fans. As it is the global game played in every country of the world, that means people show their passion in many ways. I don't think Phoenix fans have an "us v them" mentality regarding football and rugby etc, and as Zinger can see from the responses, it isn't welcomed by us. Yes, come to the Phoenix matches. Watch the beautiful game and the passionate support. Don't try and compare it to rugby. It's like when some people talk of football being a ponce sport. Sorry, but I've broken quite a number of bones playing football, and can only tell you that the nature of injuries is genberally different to those suffered in certain other sports.

So it is with supporting football.  Do it any way that's meaningful to you, but don't fuel some sort of "us v them" thing. Besides, we're all in this thing together.
