YF chior master
almost 19 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Does anyone in YF have experience as a chior master, or band conductor of any type? We could do with someone to strand at the botttom (or middel) of our aisle and lead the singing!!

Otherwise we could lack the unity and focus needed to make a good solid noise, and just wind up like a bunch of rugby fans all doing our own thing.

People are either going to sing, or not, regardless of if there is a choir master.

If there is enough like-minded people who want to sing, they will naturally gravitate together and have fun.  Like anything in this country, there will be a few people who hang around the edges of the group, and enjoy the banter and atmosphere, but will not join in.  Unless we give the Choir Master a whip, that will not change.

All I do is make the stuff I would've liked
Reference things I wanna watch, reference girls I wanna bite
Now I'm firefly like a burning kite
And yousa fake fuck like a fleshlight

Id love to get to English football stage of crowd support, but i think we got a long time till we get near that!

You need 1 person, generally the funniest f**ker ever with the best wit, to start and lead all/most songs. See Richard from the bloc 5

I dont think a Choir person would make much of a difference. I think it just comes down to chemistry, like we need to start our base off strong and keep it going.

Yep you need a leader(s)

What we need for the opening game are the Ultra brothers, along with the ringleaders of the Fever in the centre and firing things up...

Too right. Any idea if their going down?

Ye im keen. We need a huge fan base tho. Whos keen to get season tickets and how much would they be do u think? And where do we want to sit? Behind the goal or at half way? Hardcore Fans tend to sit behind the goal. We want people that will chant as well not jst sit there.

Sounds like you need a few of us Jafas to get the ball rolling.

Does anyone know when the season tickets go on sale?

almost 19 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
No time soon. Fever are getting tickets for members near corner flag. Please don't make me repeat this again

Quit the bashing kid. I spent seven good years on the sideline supporting the Kingz and the Knights. I paid my dues and it weren't my fault the club failed.

No bashing mate, just my Welly genes flaring up!

In all seriousness the boys sound like they could use a hand at organised suppporting. If they think it's just a common vibe thing and it'll all come together on the night, they're kidding themselves!

You need a capo, fellas!

There'll be plenty from the Bloc there on opening day I'm picking. Trying to organise a day pass myself, should be worth the airfare.

How much would it be dail? Also, you do need us as non of you want to lead!
almost 19 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
The Ultra bros did most of the leading, although if anyone came up with a good song we generally went with it. After a couple of ales it ain't too hard.

yep, organisation is definitely going to help.... especially here in NZ where the tendency is to either sit stoically and only grumble about the ref, or have dreadful, monotone, two-syllable chants that come out like the drone of a dying man.

whoever is leading off needs to be a little organised as well, or at least have a couple of tunes ready to go...

m guessing theyll be more than one person seeing as one person controlling 3-6 hundred isnt an easy task.
almost 19 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Perhaps the term "chior master" was a bad word. Cehck out this vieo doe see what I mean: Down near the front, the 2 guys facing the crowd with a white and red shirts on, He's the Bayern Munchen 'Choir Master". Someone like this is what many fans have (the really organised ones anyway).

well im a muso/composer so i could do it, but i think you'll need more than one person to conduct if no ones really keen, but on the other hand if everyone in the area is keen it should work without a "conductor"

some one mentioned ages ago that we should have a preseason gathering some where to go through the chants.....whoever is writing them

i think this is a great idea, it will also boast our profile in the city

If your under 18, forget it

Yeah i dont think anyones set a time and place for practice, and at this rate of off topic threads, well never get a venue.
almost 19 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
That probably has more to do with the fact that the leaders appear to have more sense than to organise it... you don't have a practice for your chants.  They come from inspiration on the day.  Turn up at a practice and chant ?  oh dear.

There are at least two pre-season cup games to be played, by the sound of it at the Basin Reserve ?  That's where you might think about starting to get things working.  Anything else and you just look like you are trying too hard.

Who gives a rip if it "looks" like were trying too hard. We want to be bloody fantastic from day one, for the sake of our players, to fire them up!

We don't have the benefit of 5 years experience together, so it may take us 5 - 10 games to get sorted. However, I don't think we really need to arrange some pre-game singing contest or practice though. But not for the reason of "looking" a particualr way. I just don't think we'd get enough peeps together in an "appropriate" (logistically) venue (such as a game) to make it worthwhile.

I'm sure that the folks who come down from Bloc 5 can assist us for the first wee while too. And who knows, maybe some of them will decide to make the move permanent. . . . .. .  .

I think the pre-season games are our opportuntiy to get organised.  Let's hope we can get enough folks along to them to make it happen.

???? yea im 18, bloc 5 helping us???? this is a little strange to me like gate 7 and gate 13 shaking hands after a derby match. Im all for a preseason game to go over the chants we need to be organised from match one other wise it would kill the hype of the first game.

OK Folks, more video showing how DRUMS and CHIOR MASTER can work at a football game. This one goes out to all you folks who hate drums cos you've only every seen them at rugby games:

When the camera pans to the left, keep your eye open on the front row, drummer and chior master facing the crowd. This is what I'm talking about.

And another one: same group http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y3ArlZZlp8Y&mode=related&search= watch the time-bar - it takes 3 seconds from the time the frist guys start jumping behind the goal for the song to be picked up by 1/4 of the stadium!!

How so quick? The drummer and leader down the front. Without this a song might have to be sung 3 or 4 times before everyone picks it up.

I thought so. This club needs all the help it can get, and Bloc 5 are the most experienced supporter group in this country, so to not welcome the help with open arms is f**king stupid

almost 19 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Because Bloc 5 are auckland based and I dont think that the boys are gonna travel down to every game
almost 19 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
