Gareth Morgan has very kindly agreed to join Chotey, Thommo and I on the next YF podcast which we're recording Wednesday afternoon at 5pm.

If you have any (serious) questions you'd like us to ask him, please post them here.

Cheers,
Piney

As similarly posted yesterday in the new ownership thread:

With the talk of the Phoenix planning to emulate the 'Warriors model', will the Phoenix employ a person in a similar position to Dean Bell who's main purpose is to comb the country to find the best talented and suitable youngsters for the development side? Note that Dean Bell is separate to the coaching staff.

On top of this, like the Warriors, will the kids who are signed be offered carreer and education opportunities so they can use their time outside of training to plan for life after football?

If the short answer is that the Phoenix may not follow EXACTLY what the Warriors are doing then how and to what extent WILL we likely see the Phoenix go in terms of 'The Warriors Model'?

Fuck this stupid game

1, A follow up to TopLefts point.  Seeing as the NRL, the NZRL and the Auckland RL pretty much pay for the Warriors support systems rather than the Warriors themselves, how do you see the 'Warriors' model working when the equivalent 3 bodies for football have stated they won't be paying a cent?

2, What is actually happening behind the scenes?

As far as I can see Nathan and David Dome are still the backroom staff, we have Greenie as the only assistant, we have no new 'football knowledge' board, we have Russell still writing media releases.  Last time I checked the skeleton staff were sitting in a closet at Newtown Park.

Apart from Ricki's extension just what has changed since the day Terry 'left'?

What progress has been made off the pitch in regards to coaching staff, training facilities, creation of board of directors.

I'm not sure how much he can answer on future developments if a board of directors has not officially been created, but would like to here his views on the structure of the club (even planning long term) in regards to academies, youth team, reserve team.

If we are going to have academies at what age are we looking at bringing in youngsters, how do they fit in with the rest of the football landscape (school, capital football, NZF).

Youth team/reserve team, are they going to be able to incorporate the team into a competitive league? How does it fit with the first team?

The medium / long term objective of building a sustainable club including off field infrastructure and a development framework integrated with NZ football have been well articulated.

In the shorter term what are the initiatives underway or planned that will improve performance on the park and results this season and next ?

1. Are you concerned that crowds might drop off this season as a result of the current softly-softly approach on player recruitment impacting short term results?

2. Has the issue of AFC non-eligability been raised since you took over, and are you talking to NZF about all the issues around whether NZ should stay in the OFC or move to AFC, and would you like to see the Nix playing in Asia one day (is there business benefit to any of the consortium if they do)?

3. Can we expect new arrivals in the January transfer window, especially a striker?

4. We hear stories of lots of unemployed footballers in the Netherlands or from Spanish second division. How hard is it to scout those leagues and do you see those as a good source of future recruitment or is home grown more important or a combination of both?

5. Any specifics on a youth/reserve team and what competition will they play in, or friendlies with NZ Premiership teams like last time?

The Welnix consortium has a desire to retain the club in Wellington.  Currently the club takes one home game per season to another NZ city.

Given that these away home games generate a lot of crowd numbers and presumably revenue for the club and that Wgtn home crowds are static or falling, will you give members any assurance that the club's policy will be to keep all bar one home game per season at the RoF?

Can you talk to some Akld counterparts to get an A-League club up and running there?  Would love to have a good NZ derby and hear the heads exploding all the way from Kiwitea St.

In the live chat on Stuff, Rob Morrison said this

"To be clear, over the next two years, we will not play more than one regular season game per season as a "home game" away from Wellington. We understand that the Hyundai A-League plan to expand the league giving us more games per season and if that happens that will give us the flexibility to look at playing more home games away."

After dropping the prices of tickets for the Auckland game to levels not seen in Wellington, are you going to do similar promotions to get the home crowds back (not just free kids all the time)?

Will you have a dedicated marketing manager, that isn't someone phoning ZM to get the Black Thunders driving around the city?

Will you expand your marketing to include more promotions to get the local football clubs members to attend games?

Will WelNix look to bring a few more showcase games against international sides, like the game with L.A. Galaxy?

When are you getting more assistant coaching staff to help Ricki?

Will the club consider a similar move to Brisbane, and look at a more substantial change to the playing squad for future seasons?Ard Righ2011-12-06 19:03:39

Thanks for the reminder.  However that was made at the beginning of the season and we are well into it now with very poor crowds.  It would be nice to have this re-stated to proivde comfort (of course the follow on from this is how do we get better Wgtn crowds?).
