I have only sporadically watched women's football in the past with the usual excuse of "well, it's not as high a quality as the men's game". Actually, that may well be true(ish), but .... IT DOESN'T MATTER - and the basis for that is I just love the A-League (Men) - my favourite league. Even though it happens to be somewhat sharkter than a bunch of other football, but it's ours, it's very 'real' and even has its classic A-League moments (character!).

Does anyone know of anywhere in Napier that will have the game on. Im over for the weekend, can watch in a motel room but would prefer to eat dinner somewhere not a bed.
I'm so going to tell the wife and kids to bugger off tonight (they've all been pretty horrible of late!) as I don't want to miss this historical moment. I was there for the Nix men's first game and I want to be there for the women as well. Besides, perfect timing really, just after dinner and before the other match. Go hard ladies!
How great is this. A pro NZ Womens football team live on free to air TV. The game has come so far since the Kingz were formed. We have seen so much improvement in so many areas, only the worst of grinches wouldnt be able to see the progress. I am going to enjoy this game. Awesome.
Fire up Phoenix! Got me three year old daughter on the couch with me watching (albeit probably only for another 10 more minutes before especially gets distracted and attention goes somewhere else). She doesn't understand the significance but really hope to get to take her to a game live down the line one day!
yeah, 20 minutes in and we are looking like we belong. Not being overwhelmed. I like the high press the nix are employing. The 4-3-3 shape is promising of an attacking plan.
Be interesting to see if they keep this pressing up, but up the farken Nix they're doing us proud and WSW defence are looking annoyed at the work they have to do.
0-0 and I think we've had the better of the attacking play. WSW have had one shot on goal and have resorted to a more physical game resulting in 2 yellows. I think we'll surprise a couple of other teams this season.
Big fan of this team already, playing super aggressive with their hearts on their sleeves but keeping it clean. Knott, Gomez and Wisnewski have been industrious, like a trio of Cammy Devlins. I’ve been impressed with Vosper too, she’s been immense in defence and attack. Here’s hoping we can slot a few and better the other first ever Nix result. Enjoying the total football position switching too, makes for an exciting game.
That was a classy moment. Followed the thread a bit and there’s not really anyone in the team who’s an import a l a Davila/Hemed/Taylor/Hooper levels of experience? That correct?
Good defending that too. Basically a 3 on 2, the attacker had space, but couldn’t get either a ball or the pass in. 3 Nix teams, good stuff! Who’s the sponsor?
NZCIS - The New Zealand Campus of Innovation and Sport are the sponsor. I think when the flash new campus in Trentham opens it’s supposed to be the main sporting hub for football in NZ.
