Fantastic game.  Even when Perth was putting pressure on it felt like we were going to score.

Whinham is an enigma.  She's so bloody good and talented, but man I wish she would take a shot about 1 or 2 touches before she passes.  She does awesome plays and makes great spaces to have a dig.

I really enjoyed that game, had forgotten what an attacking Phoenix side looked like 🙈 my second game at the JC, first was against Canberra and this was like chalk and cheese. Players knew where they were going and there was a general buzz about the play. Two good goals too and could easily have got a couple more on another day. I was right in line with that crossbar hit from Perth, what a ping. Thank god it stayed out as I think the clean sheet was deserved.

Also, credit to the club, they’ve really made it into a great family day/venue. thought that the last time I went too, but it is great to see it continue.

Shout out to the fever too, good volume in the second half in particular!

That was an entertaining match and well worth the trek out to Porirua for. Not sure if I was lucky or unlucky to still be queuing for food when we scored our first, but it was nice to see it from behind the net - and yeah the Fever were clearly audible from over there.

I feel a little sorry for Apples though, this is one trip to NZ she'll want to forget. I didn't see the injury that ended her time on the field, but hope it wasn't too nasty.

The other thing I keep forgetting to post is Fergusson is awesome.

I never notice it on TV but in person she just runs at the defense all game which puts bloody heaps of pressure on them to not mess up and doesn't give them time to reset.

She's bloody brilliant.

I just remembered that Casey Dumont was playing AFLW for Hawthorn in the off-season, but I don't think she got very far

Know I’m repeating myself, but I was super impressed by the team. but yeah, Fergusson deserves a mention, just harries the defence. It was great to see confidence and attacking intent. And actually, pressure. Positive pressure. I really wish we could upgrade JC. Great location. Although I’d want to keep the grass bank for my kids. Easiest game of football I’ve been able to watch 😂

Agree so much fun attending a game there. Dont think you would so keen on that up grade if crowd numbers were to jump dramatically. Its great at the moment with the numbers attending but it would become a nightmare with many more attending. Access and parking would become a real problem.

I'd like to see more of Elliot as an RB, looked a lot better attacking from deep and it'll get her downhill on the ball more often.

Trouble then is whether she can compete defensively, and the fact that McMeekan really seems to be kicking on finally.

What’s the apple chant about? I thought it was air ball when I arrived but it’s obviously not 😂
The number 9 got a fine for bringing an apple across the border 🤓

Wellington Phoenix supporters taunt Perth Glory striker with apples

Not a bad photo really... And the article says Hollar came away with a "bloodied" nose, so maybe it wasn't broken after all.

Sorry my bad, I only suggested it was a broken nose because that was what I was told by someone else who was also at the game, didn't look pretty anyways

Wasn’t casting doubt on your sources sorry, I just figured it was one of those cases where it takes the docs a while to be certain (thinking back to my own moment of athletic glory when I face-planted on a treadmill). Either way I hope she’s back on the pitch soon.

Just liked the mindset of our players to win their individual battles. Mcmeeken imposing herself physically, Wall's runs and crosses, Ferguson constant pressure on the defence and what a great leap for the goal. Jale looking so much more involved too. Great progress team.

Ferguson isn't setting the world alight on the ball, but she presses the defense constantly, which is an approach that has earned goals this season and isn't something every forward is capable of.

If she keeps doing that, and scores them as they fall to her then I'm happy. I'm only expecting her to grow from here and if we can maintain the quality of ball movement vs Perth she'll get plenty of goals.
