I swear I heard a whistle in the lead up to that goal so I was sad that it looked so promising.
30 Dec 09:20
Fenix
Main was more offside there than the disallowed goal in my opinion, lol.

Oh well,we are smashing this lot. We look good in defence, and Main,Bloke and Samba are too much for WSW.

yeah, it never looked like she ever got back onside at any point in that move.
30 Dec 09:23
That was lucky, poor attempt from wsw

Loving how this team plays atm. Long may it continue!!
I have an amazing ability to find my way out of mazes. I'm pathological.

Quote of the game, from one of the local Nix supporters: “3-0 is the most dangerous score in football, just ask CCM.”

Geez I didnt realize it was a Nix home game!

Fantastic work from the Sydney Nix supporters and the Nepalese fans!  They sound so awesome!

This has been a great game. I am enjoying have so many of the team able to score goals

Whoo hoo!!! 3 points baby!
30 Dec 10:00
Gotta love a clean sheet 🤩

Deserved that one. WSW did all they could to make it tough.  But plenty good enough.
30 Dec 10:08
Cracking game, cracking team!

Up to 4th baby!  Gotta love that goal difference shot in the arm last week.

Let's gone Nix!
30 Dec 10:11
Only 4 goals against, take note mens team.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

The Ruf, The Ruf, The Ruf is on Fire!!

30 Dec 10:14
Great travelling support.  Was nice to see so many Nix flags scattered through the crowd, not just in the little corner of yellow.

Great to end the year on a high.

Yep. Barry was immense today, but the partnership with VDM and Walker is a very good looking one.
30 Dec 10:19
Mens and womens team both have 11 points

Women have the best goal difference, men have the worst.

Fantastic way to close out 2025 and distract from the misery of last night. So proud of these ladies, they're showing the men up and providing a light at the end of the tunnel for the club.

10 goals in two matches is just an absolutely incredible achievement and it's a great feeling knowing it belongs to us.

Also, what do we reckon, Bev getting AL women coach of the month?

Must say Wanderers Football Park was packed tonight, never seen it so full, I would imagine that will be the best attendance they've ever had there!

Usually after the games there, there's only the few of us Nix supporters hanging around to chat to the players, but today the sidelines were packed at full time - Samba was in for a big night of photos and autographs I think!

Great support from the Nepalese community, they were loud and they even joined in on some of our chants, as did we with theirs!

This team really looks to be cooking now we are putting away chances, it's great to watch!

Edit: Also just on the 10 goals in 2 matches thing - we've been so good and created so much that it really could have been even more! Which sounds crazy to say

Vlok has transitioned so well into the starting squad. Feels like she’s getting better each time we see her.

And that excellent run which helped lead to Samba’s goal. Still can’t believe she’s only 17, watching her play, you would think she’s been a starter for some time now.

It was also cool to see Pijnenburg make her debut so soon after joining the club. She gave us a wave leaving the pitch but unfortunately we didn’t really get a chance to say welcome and ask her about her first day on the new job.

I said something similar about VicNix in the men’s thread, but the Little Corner of Yellow crew are awesome: super-welcoming to visitors and full of practical advice on how to get to and enjoy games (e.g. that WSW don’t even sell food and drink for women’s home games - at least not if Samba isn’t there).

If anyone’s planning on attending away games it’s absolutely worth making contact with the local supporter groups.
30 Dec 18:56
Vlok is class. Easily the most promising youngster so far - there will likely be offers a plenty coming in at the end of the season - one more in the A League under Priestman however would make a lot of sense.

Emma Main and Samba are starting to look the goods up front, and all round the team is looking strong and with depth. The two away games that they easily should have won have cost them, but there’s every reason to believe that this team could go all the way.

The previous critics of Nunn and Leon have gone a bit quiet. Two of the best imports so far imho.

The contrast in the matchday threads is also quite high. But amazing what can happen when there is a defensive foundation to fall back on.

I fell asleep just after 2-0 because kids, so can't comment on the whole game, but things really seem to be coming together nicely for the ladies - immense at the back again, nice to see a couple of goals for Main, and Samba really starting to show her pedigree and quality.

The crowd looked fantastic as well. Good stuff all round. 👏

Alf agree about Nunn i was critical of her first couple of games but Bev has her coming from deeper and its suits her and our game perfectly. Love the aggression in her game. Also think she is helping Vlok shine.

This team must also be more attractive to Fraser to return to hopefully. The vibe must be wonderful in the squad and there’s genuine competition for places in almost all positions. COYN 💪

Just imagine if both Fraser and Wynham were available there just wouldntbe any let up for opposition defenses.

What a win! Can't wait to watch their next game. At least something to look forward to that gives a bit of hope.

The men I'll continue to watch too but I've written them off after the first 2 or 3 rounds and in my mind nothing will change there until Chief is gone.

Up to the women it it!

As much as I detest social media I’ve grudgingly created a burner Fakebook account to follow the club and supporter groups. Between the crazy amount of online interest from fans in Nepal and the vibe at last night’s home away from home game, I think I’m only now starting to grasp just how huge the “Samba effect” is.

Interesting challenge for the club is how to turn this incredible outreach opportunity into enduring community support for the whole team, not just one player. Samba won’t play for us forever, but judging by the high-fives I was getting from locals just for wearing a Nix shirt we have the chance to build a lasting relationship (I’m pretty sure one gentleman there was a Nepalese diplomat). Time to find a sister club in Nepal, maybe one Samba used to play for? And of course we already have Sir Ed’s legacy to build on.

I’ve decided that if I ever get to visit Nepal (not previously high on my list but getting up there, especially after last night), I’ll definitely check out some local games - and wear my Nix shirt when I go to them.

Thing is though Simon its ALL about Samba and yes we may get some still support us should she leave us but i very much doubt that  No Samba no support at the level of last nite.
They need to scout for the next Samba and looking at some of the social media there is one player they all mention. Sorry cant her remember name but the same player has been mentione  a few times.

I was in Nepal a couple of months ago in Oct. It was a really good conversation opener with the locals that Samba was playing for the club I support in NZ. Everyone I spoke to knew who she was, and yes they love there football.
They also seem to have a great respect for NZ because of the Hillary legacy.
Had a great trip and would recommend Nepal to anyone looking for a good cultural experience with a bit of adventure.

What nationality is this player you are talking about ?
The WSW team last night looked like they had quite a few Asian players. China and South Korea I think. Not the same level of support as Samba though.

The crowd looked epic last night, would have loved to have been in amongst it. The women’s team is just humming at the moment and it’s not going to be a difficult decision (weather permitting), for which game to plump for in Jan. Hopefully they can keep it up, would love to see Fraser return to a truly positive squad to take the pressure off her.

It was a Nepalese player sorry cant remember her name but it was mentioned a number of times by various people in a number of threads. My memory is vague but seem to recall some mention of her playing in Europe so may be a National team mate of Samba
