Bugger. Had confidence in another late show there. Tough game.

Came close at the finish but we deserved to lose that.

There's no shame in losing to such a good team - but we need to put together a more cohesive attacking plan going forward without Samba. Today was mostly long balls, long shots and prayers.

Did we concede 2 from there only shots on targets again. Seems to be a common theme with this team.
Better gritty second half performance though. Good to see Woods off the mark.

Shame we couldn't snatch an equaliser but that was a pretty good second half from the Nix. I like Nunn a lot. She's strong and a bit stroppy, has a good football brain and is surprisingly skillful.

The new striker looks promising too.

I thought they were opening us up pretty easily in the first half tbh. But promising that we won the shot count and xG in the end

Agree totally.  Too many loose balls played thru the midfield, and our crossing was poor, way too often.

Some good play but ultimately too little too late of course.

Disappointing result but a great debut for Woods. I got to chat to her briefly after the game and it sounds like she’s loving NZ so far.

Also impressed by the size and energy of the crowd even though Samba wasn’t playing!

We were certainly missing a bit of quality with the injuries, but probably a big issue was a lack of cohesion with players coming in and some in different positions.

Where is felt really missed Samba was just having someone run at their defense all game putting them under pressure and forc8ng turn overs in their own half.

The team looked good, just not as good.

Worth noting is that , once again, the opposition keeper played an excellent sound game against us.

Yet  though we didnt really test her,she dropped the ball a number of times with little pressure being put on her. Also like a lot of the Ninja A League keepers she wasnt very tall yet again as in other games  we didnt test her out on this apart from applying pressure at corners

Looked more than that imho. I loved the "Suit" - Jacket & Shorts, outstanding effort.

The new striker looks the goods. A great header. Samba is a loss. Her enthusiasm worked on the other team members.  But we shall see what happens. Whilst injured, if she sticks around to treatment & rehab, she could be a real key in the changing rooms, keeping the others motivated. Despite the result, I loved the day. Crowd atmosphere was excellent. Does anyone know when and where that Picture will be published??
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!
