Those yellow seats make it look very big and empty. Get rid of them.

I hope for a future when we make a deep run into finals football and we get crowds of 15,000 or more which is more than what the Football Ferns get for home games outside of the WWC games. We do have a deep squad this year and any additions we have made have been way better than past visa players asides from Vilao and Speckmaier who would be up there. Some  visa players were very average. I still wish we had Izzy Gomez but I reckon this is by far our best squad.

Fans and commentators alike have ben calling for this ever since the stadium was built!
should have always had a yellow/black patern of seats.

I must’ve been at a different game. I thought Brooke Nunn was outstanding as she has been for most of the season. Agree Lara Wall didn't have her best game but has had a good season overall. I didnt detect any lack of energy, but thought Woods faded a bit after giving everything for 70 mins. Very surprised Emma Main didn't replace her given Emma’s athleticism and strong running.
Good to see Macey at the game.

The game.... well great to win and go top of the table, but that was a real fizzer of the game.

We were the better team for most of the game, but neither side really looked super likely to score after 1-0. Disappointing from us not to score more/put the game beyond doubt, but we deserved to win.

Player performances: Makala Woods and Lucia Leon continued to combine well enough though not at their top level today, well done Makala again what a run of form in front of goal she's in! Jale was a real battler again, Vlok put in a strong showing taking on players aplenty, wasn't Nunns best game for me I thought in a tired team performance she often slowed the play down and took more touches than needed.

Ellie Walker and Van Der Meer I noticed making some great challenges and decisions, actually think they outshone Mackenzie today who of course was still Mrs. Consistent. Agree with others that not Wall and Pijnenburgs best day, frustrating because I still see them in our best XI. Wall with some poor crosses today but this is a standout attribute of hers and I think having her as an adventurous fullback suits us with a more cautious fullback on the right side. Pijnenburg has some good moments and maybe just needs to play until she reaches the high level we know she is capable of, but right now it's fair to question whether she or the reliable Brazendale deserves to start. Mackenzie Anthony btw worth a mention off the bench - thought she was on point with her forward passes today and linked up well with Makala, was quiet in her first few games but hoping this can take off too!

Overall just thought we looked a bit tired and low energy today, wonder if the travel and 5 day turnaround played a part in that, thankfully Perth weren't really up to much themselves and really lacked star power.

Nunn was fantastic all game, never stopped chasing the ball and creating chances. Pijnenburgs good moments do not outway her inability to match the standards around her. It's nice to be winning and top of the table, but I'd love to see Macey Fraser back in this side - she was at the stadium yesterday so hopefully she isnt too far away from playing.

The women are the main event at March's double header!

We played very well yesterday  no doubt.  Finishing could have been better and we should have sewn it up earlier.

But the Perth keeper had a strong game - we have seen some strong keeping performances against us this season.

We have also seen some shockers which has helped our goal difference.

I'm really divided on these double headers. On the plus side we get more fans into the ground for games at the caketin, and it introduces this team to new fans that might not have ventured out to PP, but the downside is the stadium is way too big and looks empty with a much much poorer atmosphere, and the womens team still ends up being a sort of "warm up act" which is just undeserved. Maybe a couple times a season as currently is best? Interested to know others thoughts.

I agree with everything you've said here, but it got me wondering just how much exposure the team gets compared to the Porirua Park faithful. From this season's home numbers it's a decent amount:

And no real surprise here, but all but one of the top 10 ALW attendances this season have been from double-headers:

(Not sure about the Roar/Nix numbers since the women played second, unless they somehow counted how many people left the stadium after the men.)

So I guess having a few is worth it despite all the downsides - hopefully we see a bump at the next Porirua Park game as a flow-on from yesterday.

Think people may find if they asked the team themselves they enjoy playing at the stadium and think Bev said as much before their first game there this season.
Cant wait to see them playing before 20000+ during the finals campaign.

The design and layout was really well thought out. The NZ Cricket team were doing ok at 50 over games to they built the stadium that way in the hope it would be full for every game. Sadly, the Black Caps went through a bad run and the attendances dropped and it is rarely fully for any one day games now. Domestic Cricket T20 when played there attracted crowds of about 50. So Cricket went back to the Basin for the most part. There was a waiting list for Rugby Season Ticket holders and for the first 4 or 5 years it was popular for the Lions and the Hurricanes. Then, they too started to drop. So much for the lions that even with their cheaper rent, it was financially better that they went to Gerry Collins.

Except for Semi Finals/Finals in all sports it stands out like a big Yellow abysss. I bang on about Forsythe Barr but it is a covered in venue and fans get up close & personal with the action on the field. That is what Wellington should've had. Now days we need a smaller 12-15k stadium that would not look empty so often.

Napier had the idea of sticking different coloured seating and when it's half empty, it looks full with the movement of fans.
