Sorry - double post. as an aside - Auckland fans, with regularity, ask where AFC is when the ALW tables are posted on Facebook. Possibly my favourite genre of Facebook post.Doloras
The Salties looked pretty fast against AFC. Lot of long balls and successful chasing.
Super important one today, win today and we go ahead of CCM with only Canberra (who we still have to play) potentially blocking us from sitting in the top 6!

Excellent to have Barry in, she wasn't on the original published list.
Mccutcheon should slot into midfield but with no Main, who will score???
I will forgive Ferguson everything if she wins us this one.
Not many people here!
Hopefully we’ll see lots of last-minute arrivals (maybe a few sore heads after last night?). Temple had some nice words to say in the match preview about the importance of us making noise, although surely for these games we’re the Twelfth Woman?
Seems to be a club thing just cant create chances or when they do just waste them. Have been a number of games with multiple wasted chances. Need to fix it or like the Men they will be shown up by Auckland.
Was that a pen? I wish we had more camera angles because I can't see why
Even watching from the stands I was left mystified by some of those goal-mouth scrambles (although with my eyesight I could be an A-league ref so maybe that isn’t saying much).
Overall we started brightly but then seemed to fizzle out. Closest thing to a highlight was Taylor giving us a wave.
My summary of the game from the ground: - Great atmosphere, was my first time at PP and the noise of YF and the rest of the fanbase in that one stand is excellent, and they didn't stop - Poor performance overall, started game well but faded and ultimately failed in the final third; why can we not make the right choices, connect the right passes and create genuine chances in the box? Mariners attacks were rarer but much better put together - The main referee was definitely... interesting. Mariners were certainly physical and committed a lot of fouls many went unpunished, yet somehow we ended up getting more yellows than them. Haven't seen the pen decision again so can't really comment. That said - officiating was not the reason why we lost.
It's so frustrating to see that first 20-25 minutes of utter dominance amount to nothing. And then once the Mariners got themselves in to the game, they didn't need many opportunities before they put a couple away.
Unfortunately our Finals hopes are all but gone.
We really need to put a lot of focus in training to being more clinical in front of goal for next season, not just the forwards, but the whole squad.

3 games to go, potential to get 9 points and go to 32, which could secure us 4th if results go our way, but also we could lose all 3 and WSW could win their next games and go ahead of us. Bothy scenarios are unlikely I'd expect we could come away with 4 or 5 points which should see us sneak into the 6
