Does anyone know the ALW finals schedule?
All I can find is that the finals format should be the same as the mens and the final is 4-6 May

But that leaves 4 weekends between the regular season finishing on 31 March and the final, so I'm not sure how it works. Is there a bye weekend before the final as proposed for the Destination NSW final?

oh well, we only have ourselves to blame.  Hopefully we'll go further next year.

I took this screen shot after round 9 and at that point we had already accumulated more points than our previous two seasons.

Can't make the playoffs any more. But still be good to finish above the bottom 3. A win today will do that.

Hopefully the draw is a bit more fair next year and they don't have to play 8 away games in 9 or whatever it was

Edwards not on the radar

When I look at the table and see the Mariners in 4th, we missed Issy Gomez the most, we would be in the playoffs if we had of kept her.

And it was games earlier in the season that we lost when we should have won or drawn Eg against Brisbane, Adelaide and Mariners where we would be thinking about accommodation and flights for our first ever playoffs.

Even still we have had a much improved season and I think we have played some great football. Academy players have added to the squad and from the outside it has largely looked that you have to play well to be selected. Eg Whinham not being able to make the squad earlier in the season and now she has found her confidence again and is ripping it up.

A-League teams have to have ALW sides soon iirc, so wouldn't be surprised if Brown heads to Macarthur next season.

Sorry but bloody poor play against the bottom dwellers.
Lack of ball control, poor execution.

Both teams looking pretty good but we look slightly better.  Only takes one goal in an open game like this though to be fair.

So many missed chances, some sitters but no result, they can't be happy with this result.

They looked competitive at the start of the season but then it went downhill. I would say it is a failed season. Injuries to starting players and a key player leaving made it much harder for them to get anything out of this season.

I just watched a team dominate for most of the game and lose. I know she is short but I still think Bri Edwards is a better goalkeeper. Was nice to see Candy getting a gig at the Victory. I think she too is a good goalkeeper.

Dunno where Edward's is, but when I saw her in Porirua, she looked very fit, fitter than last year. Foster doesn't look like she's seen the gym.

Did you not see the last two seasons?

We made good steps to being a competitive team this year, no longer an easy beat team that loses nearly every week.

While it didn't live up to some of its early promise, I don't think it's fair to call it a failure

We had unfair restrictions the last two years. With what seems like an increased playing budget, a full roster of imports, and no restrictions on New Zealand players, we should have made the finals.

With the start of the season we had, we should have been top four.

It's definitely a failure.

Yeah better than last year. I'm pretty sure their goal was play-offs and that was not archived.

The standard of finishing (from both sides) was appalling in that game.
Main, Cox and Speckmaier should have had that game wrapped up comfortably.

‘Should have’ is an inevitable part of this game for all teams at all levels. Yes they should have won today but this is football not rugby where the best team almost always wins.

Fraser sent the FK directly to a Canberra player. Three passes later, the ball was goal-bound off Heyman.

Because she played a heap on Wednesday and isn't the fittest player in the team in terms of going 90 mins back to back

she may well have been one of the better keepers in the league - im not disputing that at all, however, saying her movement is good when there have been many times when a slow header or mis-shot gets passed her is worth noting. There have been many times when she has been "stuck" and struggled to reach a ball that she should get to.

I think Edwards is a great shot stopper, and has got better.
Her problem last year was aerial where she was poor without doubt.
But from what Ive seen, shes made a big effort to be positive and come for the crosses.
Shes too good to be a permanent bencher, and I think we have her signed for one or two more years. We need to play her, and if she ultimately proves "too short" then the game is up. Shes certainly better than some other A League keepers Ive seen lately, though.
Ive no idea if her current absence is due to her frustration at lack of game time, but I certainly would not be happy if I were her.

Yes - the most athletic keeper in the league by a country mile imo. Definitely worth a number one spot at this level. Another season on the bench would not serve her well. Better off in the NSW league if she cannot claim the top role at the Phoenix or another A League club.
