Didn't see a thread for this one yet.  2nd vs 2nd last.  Kinda worried about this one.

A huge day, with CCM playing Canberra too.

We COULD be in a fantastic position by the end of the day.

We simply have to win this one.

If Anthony could please take a first touch rather than trying a flick, that would be great.

If Pijenberg wouldn't consistently give the ball up that would help as well! Exactly the same as v CCM, gives it to the opposition more.. We looking decidedly average again

Passing is barely better than the other night.

I'm really not bullish about our prospects here.

Anthony well below par for me. Woods hasn't offered much

Leon and Fraser have to improve this.

I just hope it changes.

On this performance, can't see us doing much in the playoffs.

Come on ladies, you can win this. A bit scrappy and a few mistakes but a lot of chances created. Fingers crossed. I wish I was there, but am at work.

If this was Chief and some of the performances and tactics of late, the critics would be out massively! Beverly has been tactically out played a number of times yet no one says anything... Any guesses why? We need to be 2 steps better than we've shown lately come finals

I imagine no one says anything because we’re 2nd and in touching distance of the premiership

Or there's another reason... Certainly aren't in touching distance now! Another horrid performance unfortunately.. Tough end of season we've been found wanting which doesn't bode well

It's all over when we have Walker up front.

Is it a pressure thing/psychological? - we were very good consistently, playing with freedom I guess, until the games really started to matter and the team started trying too hard.

Choking at the wrong time. Barry is correct. two very good chances in the first half should've been put away. Passes ended up as shots and shots ended up as passes. Very disappointing.

That's 35 shots for the 'Nix in the past two games for 1 goal scored (13 on target), while conceding 15 shots and 3 goals (8 on target). Even though we have had that many shots, its hard to think of many clear cut chances - Woods when the WSW went down injured today possibly. Very frustrating at the end, a bit too direct possibly when going wide and then getting balls into the box would have probably resulted in less wasted possession.

What a disappointing result.  We may end up with 9 games win 7 losses at this rate. City win again.  Boring!

Very disappointing. In the first half it almost felt like WSW were handing it to us and we kept fluffing our lines . Just doesn’t see to be clicking at the moment. Surely that CCM result isn’t going to be the end of it all?

Despite the loss the Phoenix retain 2nd place heading into the last round of games as Adelaide lost and Canberra were held 0-0 by Central Coast so a win at Adelaide should secure 2nd place (a 12 goal differential over Canberra being their current separation on equal 31 points) however a loss to Adelaide could see the Phoenix drop to 3rd or 4th place.

Aye, should have had it wrapped up but basically huffed and puffed and couldn't blow down the house of straw.  Again passing poor, movement poor and Woods again poor.  Nunn runs about but never ever achieves anything.  Need Jale more attacking midfield to try to get shots off.  This makes the opposition close her down which frees up wide positions, keep the defence guessing.  Hopefully Fraser starts as she seems to be the only one who can control midfield.  Vlok didn't seem to get the support she needed.
However, still in 2nd place and hopefully they can get back to playing as a team again with better game plan and fewer slack passes.
Hopefully

mate you're so wrong about Nunn, she is the energiser bunny who creates almost all of our wide attacking options, the sole reason she got shut down a lot last game was down to the fact we had no other options on the left - Elliot was unused most of the 1st half. All the play went down the right. Did you miss Nunn creating our first chances on goal?

Im so dissapointed with that. Maybe we just dont have the depth we thought we had.
These are my personal views from live viewing- I cant face watching the replay.

Barry, Jale, and Brazendale when she came on, did all they could have done.
Nunn is vital (as theprof said) but I thought she was set up to play too deep yesterday, especially in 1st half. We need her getting behind the defence.
We have to start Leon and Fraser, they have some class that others dont.

Anthony. A bench warmer at best.

Woods. She was frustrating yesterday. How didnt we score when their defender pulled a hammy?  We dont have a better option

yeah I was surprised that Leon didnt start, I get she hasnt scored at all this season but she seems more creates more space for the likes of Nunn to create things.

From the women's matches I've watched this year I'd have thought a fit Leon would always be one of the first on the teamsheet. Baffling to me that she is riding the pine...

Let's hope we click vs Adelaide otherwise this could all fizzle out in rather disappointing fashion.

So glad i didnt pull the trigger on going to Adelaide. As others have said very disappointed with that effort,i thought they looked very flat. Sorry i dont go with the run of games, travel excuses. Its the business end of the season and if they cant get themselves up for these games then we are in real trouble and will be easy beats come finals.
Not sure whats happened  to our defense recently the only reason we havnt shipped goals in recent games is the opposition wernt able to take their chances. Bev said she felt it was an issue starting with the midfield whatever it is it needs to be fixed pronto.
As for our attack Woods and Anthony spent that much time standing offside they made it virtually impossible  for though balls to put on. Both need to learn thats not where they should be standing friggen frustrating watching them both do it then just dawdle back onside.
Absolutely certain they have it in them to go deep in the finals.
Just dont get what it is about the Phoenix that we choke when its there in front us.
Welnix need to spend some cash and get a DECENT  sports phycologist. Enoka or Eastwood would do.

At that point wsw were impotent, we were winning the ball high wsw weren't getting into our defensive third. Even the goal conceded was against the run of play and rather hopeful, but well taken. Most of wsw shots in the 2nd half were when we were 1 down already chasing the game with Walker up front.

Perhaps it wasn't the best performance from the Nix but I do think we were unlucky. A speculative long ball like that is only going to result in a goal one time out of twenty but unfortunately it was that one time. WSW defended brilliantly I thought, and their passing game was surprisingly slick and accurate without really leading to much up front.

In fact, I don't know what the stats show but I always seem to be more impressed with the opposition team's passing combinations than our own. Not that we are poor by any means but sometimes it all seems a bit theoretical, ie, players first-time passing to where they think a team mate is. Nice to look at if it works, a problem if it doesn't, which it very much was in the first half. Second half it was noticeable that after Fraser and Leon came on a more accurate and patient recycling of the ball kept WSW pinned down for long periods but we weren't able to finish off our chances.

Annoyed with Esson's positioning for the goal. That's no man's land surely.

Barry blaming herself in the post match interview.  I don't she could have done anything to stop the goal, she was just disappointed i think.

Main not selected either.

I'd could name a couple of players who could make way for her!

Aye I saw Nunn half creating but nothing a school kid couldn't have done
Just count how many times she does exciting little runs which look impressive unti final pass or shot.  To often her head thinks things that unfortunately her feet cannot do.
